After-School Activities:
Host Country Culture Explorations
At SCIS, students are immersed in Chinese culture through engaging activities that reflect both tradition and modern life. At the Hongqiao ECE campus, younger students have recently explored traditional Chinese practices, such as making crafts and learning about Chinese calligraphy. They also enjoyed tasting white fungus pear soup and listening to the ancient story of Little Fish Jumps over the Dragon Door. These hands-on experiences allow the youngest learners to connect with the rich heritage of their host country, fostering an appreciation for local traditions while nurturing a broader global perspective.
Service Learning
This semester, SCIS students participated in a service-learning journey that took them on a tour of Shanghai. They explored the city's landmarks, gaining insights into its history, development, and cultural significance. By connecting classroom knowledge with real-life experiences, the students deepened their understanding of their community and the world around them. The experience reflects SCIS's commitment to developing well-rounded, globally aware individuals who not only excel academically but also actively engage with the world.
