It is a journey in life to transit from learning how to express our needs, interests, feelings, and emotions by saying “I need, I want, and I feel”, to owning the awareness of expressing what we need, want, or feel, and learning to ask others “What do you need? What do you want? How do you feel?”
Have you ever thought of the others?
The other adds, contributes ideas, points to the details imperceptible to me, broadens my vision, and identifies risks that I did not analyze, and in that process, I learn and evolve. This has been my PAFA (Parents and Friends Association) journey.
The Awareness of the “Other” The awareness of the other leads to acknowledging the presence and perspectives of others who can foster a sense of conscience. We must recognize that we are not alone - there are others with their rights, needs, and voices. Their opinions and experiences have value and can enrich our understanding. Approaching others with respect and empathy cultivates a genuine desire to support them as individuals and as part of a larger community. The Sense of “Togetherness” The concept of togetherness is related to the experience of being united with others in love, friendship, respect, understanding, empathy, generosity, and solidarity. The term has been attached to family, friends, teams, groups, and communities. This notion encourages active involvement to develop a sense of group identity. The sense of togetherness implies common principles and values that strengthen individual bonds and lead to a sense of belonging. In PAFA we have worked and will continue to work to promote, build, and experience the awareness of the other, as well as the sense of togetherness, fostering effective and positive communication, empathy, respect, mutual recognition, mutual support, harmony, peace, and appreciation of the diversity of cultures worthily represented by the members of our SCIS Pudong community.
“A community is a group of people who agree to grow together”. – Simon Sinek.
