There was total heartbreak for brunch fans win the city yesterday as they rolled up to The Bull & Claw and found it closed for good, with a notice pasted on the gate that huge amount of rent hadn’t been paid. This venue, operated by the Camel Group - had grown into an institution in the city for its boozy brunches, and beautiful villa setting. Another one bites the dust.

Other venues from the Camel Hospitality Group include Mexican restaurant El Santo at Found 158, Italian restaurant DOC on Dagu Lu, and Thai KIN Urban Thai Kitchen on Yongkang Lu - are now all closed, as of yesterday (December 2, 2024).

News of The Camel Hospitality Group’s closures began circulating this past weekend. The company issued an official statement on Sunday, December 1. The statement cites operation difficulties. Word is there are unpaid suppliers and staff salaries.

We must always bear in mind that running F&B is tough in any city, but especially in post covid-19 Shanghai. You can read the full statement from the chairman of the group, click here.

F45 Training and The Blarney Stone are said to remain unaffected.

Thanks for all the good times Camel Group!
