The Light of Science Lights Up Your Dreams

The Light of Science Lights Up Your Dreams
On 13 September 2024, ASJ-GZ in collaboration with the Guangdong Science Centre, launched the ‘Light of Science Lights Up Your Dreams’ Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Youth Science and Technology Exchange Activity. This activity aims to promote the exchange and co-operation of science and technology among the youth of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and to stimulate their interest in science and innovative thinking.
Science Magic Show
During the event, the science performance team from Guangdong Science Centre presented a wonderful science show. One by one, the students were dazzled and immersed in the wonderful world of science.
In the Magic Maths Show, students learnt about the magic of maths through a number of interesting interactive demonstrations such as Number Guessing Balls, Passing Through Paper and Beauty of Topology, while gaining a fresh understanding of abstract maths.
In the Origami Code session, students experienced the ‘scientific’ sparks generated by the collision between the versatile art of origami and the marvellous natural science.
Mind Mapping and Creative Thinking
During the event, Ms. Pan Baopin, Vice President of Guangdong Thinking Maps Education Institute and former Deputy Secretary General of the World Thinking Maps Championships Organising Committee, gave a lecture on the theme of ‘Thinking Maps and Creative Thinking’, which inspired students to explore and innovate, and to cultivate the ability to think creatively.
In her lecture, Ms Pan mentioned that Thinking Maps have a great function of making your innovative thinking smoother and more open-minded.
Combine Education with Pleasure
The science popularisation exchange activity provides a rare platform for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao youths to learn and exchange ideas. Feng Yan, Executive Principal of our school, fully affirmed the creativity of the science popularisation activities of the Guangdong Science Centre and the care and attention given to our school, and she expressed her hope that there would be more opportunities to participate in the various activities of the Guangdong Science Centre.
The students said that such popular science activities not only enrich the extracurricular life of students, but also plant the seeds of science in their minds and inspire them to love and explore science.
