Players looking for
high-quality weekly training sessions and competitive weekend matches can contact us now to try out for a ClubFootball league team for the coming season.
ClubFootball
currently has league teams for players born from 2006 to 2018, in the Chaoyang and Shunyi districts. Teams train once or twice during the week, with a progressive technical curriculum applied across all age-groups and modern training sessions delivered by our team of UEFA qualified full-time
coaches from the UK.
Teams compete each week in the Beijing International Junior Football League (BIJFL, one of China's biggest independent youth development leagues) and also take part in tournaments around China and abroad too (Thailand in December!)
Playing for a ClubFootball Team
At the very youngest age-groups (G1), we begin by encouraging players to enjoy the game and helping them explore finding different ways to work together to score and different ways to enjoy playing with their teammates. First and foremost, coaches ensure that everyone enjoys being part of the team, enjoys football, and enjoys the part that being in a team can play in the journey of growing up at ClubFootball.
Each team focuses on the aspects of the game most relevant to their age group, helping them progress through the ClubFootball player pathway. Our younger teams learn about how to manipulate, protect, share and strike the ball, as well as gain a basic understanding of attacking, defending and creating space during a match. As players get older, they continue to develop their dribbling skills, learn different ways to pass and receive the ball creatively, attack and defend both individually and with teammates. They also get to try out every position on the pitch as part of ClubFootball's player rotation system, which we believe is the best way to develop the complete football player. Our older teams learn about different formations, how to defend and attack with the offside rule, transition, and ways of confidently keeping possession in all areas of the pitch.

While we want our teams to do well in competition, winning in the short-term is not the most important thing for our teams. We want our players to rise to the higher challenges of the league and to learn from their experiences. Players often learn more from a defeat than from a win, and whether teams win or lose, coaches encourage players to reflect on the game, to develop the knowledge and confidence to make changes during the match, and to work with team-mates to help the team perform better in future games. This approach not only helps develop footballers who understand the game but also well-rounded young people who are able to use their on-pitch skills and technique to deal with the situations and challenges they are faced with off the pitch too!
The league is managed by ClubFootball and features a mix of local and international clubs, schools and organisations. There are 2 seasons each year, from Sept-Dec and from Mar-Jun, and teams play every Sunday at the same time and place (ISB).
The league was designed to give players a platform to play matches in a friendly and developmental environment. To that end, we don’t keep scores for the younger age-groups, and although we do keep scores for the older divisions, we don’t emphasize results and league tables, and the focus is very much on enjoying the matches, developing your skills, and getting experience of playing as a team.
