意大利木雕艺术家 Bruno Walpoth（布鲁诺•瓦尔波特）雕刻的人物既沉静又脆弱，既苍白又坚定，他的作品剥除了外相表皮的复杂，表面的斑驳与苍白，强化了内心情绪的力量，陷入自我而游离的情绪能瞬间撞击观者内心。他被誉为本世纪最伟大木雕艺术家之一，也是意大利的国宝级雕塑家。
他说：“我所有的作品都是情感第一，外表第二。我不希望过多的动作和造型来打乱这种情绪，如果造型过于花俏或过于奇特，情绪的东西会减弱。我作品的主题和灵魂就是内心的东西，所以不希望在造型上有过多的夸张和喧宾夺主的东西。”
Bruno Walpoth was born in 1959 in Bressanone Italy; he lives and works in Ortisei Italy. Walpoth began his training in the studio of his grandfather and uncle, both of whom carved ecclesiastical figures.

Italian artist Bruno Walpoth creates unbelievably lifelike sculptures of people with wood. The rings and knots in each piece of wood that the sculptor works with adds an artistic element to the completed figure.

Walpoth’s figurative sculptures simultaneously celebrate the human body and retain the natural visual information of the medium. The sculptor uses semi-translucent paint to coat his sculptures to ensure that the wood grains are visible.
L'Altro，linden wood，102 x 42 x 26 cm
Inspired by all forms of art that lie beyond wood carving and sculptures, the sculptor approaches solid slabs of wood with a creative outlook, transforming them into intricately detailed figures in the likeness of men and women.
