语言和我们的世界观之间有着深刻而直观的联系。作为最直接的跨文化接触，语言影响了从可持续发展到遗产保护等重大全球问题的截然不同的方法和理解。我们与技术的关系如何改变关于多语言的话语体系？在跨文化工作时，我们如何为理解上的根本差异提供空间？当人们的沟通能力受到严重限制时，他们如何共同努力实现一个目标?

今年的驻地计划，我们将邀请创作者直面在不同语言之间工作的诸多困难与启发。我们希望寻找拥有不同语言身份的艺术家，包括聋人艺术家，使用方言的中国艺术家，以及来自不同语言背景的国际艺术家，营造一个独特的创意空间。我们还将继续盘上海“永续创造”的目标，鼓励艺术家优先使用现成品、回收品和捐赠物品作为创作材料。

There are deep and intuitive links between language and our worldviews. Language is the most direct cross-cultural encounter, leading to drastically different approaches to and understandings of major global issues, from sustainability to heritage preservation. How does our relationship to technology change the discourse around multilingualism? How do we give space for fundamental differences in understanding when working across cultures? How do people work together towards a goal when their communicative abilities are severely limited?

This year’s residency is an artistic research program where creators can confront head-on the many difficulties and inspirations of working between languages. Focusing on both process and theme, we are looking for artists of different linguistic identities, from deaf artists, to Chinese artists who relate to a specific dialect, to foreign artists from diverse backgrounds. We also continue our focus on sustainable creation by prioritizing found, donated, and recycled materials.

本次驻地将为艺术家提供创作空间、团体简餐和翻译支持。我们还将组织创意工作坊，支持驻地艺术家之间的合作与创作构想，并为作品的制作和呈现提供技术支持。我们将与Arts Access合作为有需要的入选艺术家提供无障碍支持。

*很抱歉本次驻地无法为外地艺术家提供差旅支持，但制作团队将尽可能为入选艺术家提供本地协助。

The residency provides creation space for resident artists, group meals, and translation support. We also facilitate creative workshops specifically designed by PAN Shanghai to promote collaboration and ideation among our residents, and support the production and presentation of the final open house. We are partnered with Arts Access to provide accessibility support for this residency.

*We have limited support for out-of-town artists, but can discuss with interested applicants to source accommodation.

过去五年，我们曾成功举办“你是什么垃圾？”、“土地：戏说”、“野与生”和“2022的断舍离”艺术家快闪驻地计划，并将其中一些作品带到余德耀美术馆、上海当代艺术博物馆、M50、歌德学院公开展演。

In the past five years, PAN Shanghai hosted What Trash Are You?, Stories that Ground Us, nature.raw, and A Flash Residency for Our City residencies, with follow-up projects in the Yuz Museum, Power Station of Art, M50, and the Goethe-Institut.

继与北京歌德茶馆计划的成功合作后，盘上海很荣幸今年与德国驻上海总领事馆文化教育处合作，进驻上海歌德开放空间举办2024盘上海快闪驻地计划。德国驻上海总领事馆文化教育处通过歌德开放空间的框架，为新锐艺术家和民间团体提供支持。

歌德学院是德意志联邦共和国在世界范围内积极从事文化活动的文化学院。借助由歌德学院、歌德中心、文化机构、阅览室以及语言学习及考试中心构成的网络，我们从事对外文化和教育交流的工作。我们乐意面对全球化带来的文化和政治方面的挑战，人们应该生活在一个视文化多样性为财富并能相互理解的世界中，为了这个目标，我们将带来更多的创新。德国驻上海总领事馆文化教育处负责歌德学院在上海及周边地区的工作。

Following the success of collaboration with the Beijing Goethe Institut Tea House, Pan Shanghai are teaming up with AKuB to bring programming to the Goethe Open Space. The Department of Culture and Education of the German Consulate General (AKuB) in Shanghai supports emerging artists and civil society within the framework of the Goethe Open Space program.

The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange through out network of libraries and information centres, forums for discussion, diverse print-, audio- and video-publications and our visitors' service. Goethe-Institut monitors trends in Germany and encourages cultural collaboration across the globe by organising programmes of events and making contributions to various festivals and exhibitions in the fields of film, dance, music, theatre, literature and translation. The Department of Culture and Education of the German Consulate General in Shanghai is responsible for the work of the Goethe-Institut in Shanghai and surrounding areas.

 「Arts Access 融艺」平台成立于上海，致力于推动本地文化艺术机构的无障碍环境与服务建设，为残障人士提供参与文化艺术活动的平等机会，进而倡导并推动包容与多元社会的发展。

Arts Access is a platform to increase access to Shanghai's cultural institutions for the disability community through connection, education, and advocacy.
