Jörg Kudla教授不仅是德国明斯特大学教授,也是长江学者特聘教授,目前作为中国农业大学和华中农业大学的讲席教授,同时也是中国科学院国际人才计划杰出学者(PIFI),自2014年起连续被评为“全球高被引学者”。目前,Kudla实验室中有多位中国博士生在研,可以为新生的个人和科研生活提供帮助。在过去的十年里,许多得到中国国家留学基金委(CSC)的支持的学生已成功获得了他们的博士学位。

课题组主要研究方向:
我们的课题组主要研究植物钙感受蛋白以及与之互作的蛋白激酶信号网络的功能。我们曾是最早发现Calcineurin B-like (CBLs) 蛋白的团队,同时鉴定出与CBLs蛋白相互作用的蛋白激酶CIPKs (CBL-interacting protein kinase)。此外,我们对CBLs/CIPKs复合物在植物生长发育和逆境胁迫方面的功能进行了系统性解析。同时,我们运用系统生物学的方法研究了在不同逆境胁迫下植物体内钙离子信号的特异性。除此之外,我们还专注于运用遗传学相结合的方法来提高作物的非生物逆境抗性,通过分子遗传学的手段对作物品种进行驯化,培育新的品种以提高作物的营养价值与逆境适应。

Host Lab: Molecular genetics and cell biology of plants, University of
Münster, Germany.
Prof. Kudla is not only a professor at the University of Münster, but also is a Chang Jiang Distinguished Scholar currently appointed as professor at China Agricultural University and Huazhong Agricultural University, and an outstanding winner of PIFI (CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative). He has been recognized as “Highly Cited Researcher” since 2014. The lab has a healthy and friendly community of Chinese PhD student brothers and sisters that will happily help you in your personal and scientific life in Germany. During the past decade many CSC supported students have successfully pursued their PhD degree in this lab.
Also, for the 2025 CSC fellowship application period, Prof. Kudla together with experienced students will be happy to help you to apply for a four-year China Scholarship Council (CSC) National PhD Scholarship (see more information at https://www.csc.edu.cn/chuguo).
Focus of research:
The host lab has a strong interest in important aspects of plant biology, like plant stress tolerance and plant nutrition. It has long experience in the functional analysis of a calcium sensor protein/serine-threonine kinase signaling network. The lab discovered CalcineurinB-like (CBL) proteins and identified CIPKs (CBL-interactingprotein kinase) that interact with CBL proteins. The host lab is focusing on a systems biological approach to understand the control of specificity in Ca2+-signaling systems. In addition, the group is utilizing combinatorial genetic approaches to enhance abiotic stress tolerance of crops, de novo domestication of plant species to create novel crops, improvement of crop nutritional value and stress tolerance. The lab is well known for special expertise in most modern cell biology imaging approaches using fluorescent reporter proteins. The list of model plants studied in the lab includes Arabidospsis, tomato, rice, cotton and date palm.

Publications:
Totally, the lab has published more than 150 papers, which were cited about 20,200 times. Several publications appeared in leading general journals like Nature, Science, Cell, Nature Biotechnology, Developmental Cell, and PNAS. About 36 papers are ranked as highly cited articles.
Requirements:
The candidate should be highly self-motivated and committed to science. He or she should have strong execution ability and goal-oriented work style. We expect the candidate to have a strong interest in plant signal transduction, and have as much knowledge as possible in molecular biology and molecular genetics. Substantial experience with molecular techniques is essential. Moreover, good communication skills and willingness to communicate in English are essential.
