PhD student and Postdoc Positions in Plant-Nematode-Microbe Interactions at Purdue University
Overview: The Plant Nematology Lab at Purdue University (https://ag.purdue.edu/department/btny/labs/zhang/index.html), led by Dr. Lei Zhang, is seeking a Postdoc and a PhD student to join our research team, focusing on basic and translational nematology research to develop novel methodologies for effective nematode management. The projects will primarily focus on root-knot nematodes and soybean cyst nematode. In addition to working on research and publishing high-quality papers, the successful candidates will have opportunities for career development and networking such as presenting your research at scientific conferences and growers’ meetings.
Plant-parasitic nematodes are microscopic soil-borne roundworms. They infect and damage plant roots causing annual crop losses valued at $118 billion worldwide. The Nematology Lab is aimed to enhance understanding of plant resistance to nematodes, plant-nematode-microbe interactions, and nematode biology at molecular, organismal and population levels. Research results have been published in prestigious journals, including Nature Plants, PLOS Pathogens, Molecular Plant Pathology, Plant Disease. For details, please refer to:

Qualifications: Candidates with a strong interest in molecular plant-nematode-microbe interactions are encouraged to apply. Prior research experience in plant-parasitic nematodes is preferred but NOT required. The successful applicant will have opportunities to be trained to conduct research on different aspects of plant nematology.
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with the qualifications of the candidate.
How to apply: Candidates should email a CV and a cover letter that summarizes research interests to Dr. Lei Zhang (leizhang@purdue.edu). Screening of applications has already begun and will continue until the position has been filled.
