Dr. Dequan Wang,
Founder and CEO
Governance Solutions Group
Dr. Wang is the founder and CEO of Governance Solutions Group (GSG), a China-based ESG research and rating, data and software solution provider. Before founding GSG in 2017, Dr. Wang was the Greater China Managing Partner for international law firm Simmons and Simmons where his clients included China National Council for Social Security Fund, China Investment Corporation, People’s Insurance Company of China, and fund managers from China and beyond. Before that, he was a partner at the law firm of King & Wood and a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley.
Dr. Wang is a founding Council Member of the China Finance 40 Forum. He is also an invited expert on China’s ESG30 Forum, Vice Chair of the ESG Committee of Hong Kong Chinese Asset Managers Association, a member of the ESG and Sustainable Investment Committee of China Assets Management Association(AMAC), and an Advisor on the ESG and Responsible Investment Committee of Insurance Asset Management Association of China(IAMAC). He is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Dr. Wang holds a bachelor's degree from Peking University, an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School, and he earned his SJ.D. in corporate governance and securities regulation from Stanford University.
Shutong (Lucy) Lu,
Manager, China Program
RMI
Lucy Lu is currently serving as the Manager of the Zero Carbon Market Mechanisms at RMI. With over 8 years of extensive cross-disciplinary experience spanning the energy and finance sectors, Lucy possesses a profound understanding of relevant policies and insights.
In her role at RMI, Lucy leads a dynamic team focused on researching mechanisms that empower decarbonization actions by enterprises. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of topics, including trading aspects such as green energy trading and carbon trading, as well as financing-related matters, particularly within the realm of green finance and transition finance.
Before joining RMI, Lucy worked at the National Development and Reform Commission's Climate Change Department (transitioned to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment), where she actively participated in and bore witness to numerous intergovernmental discussions about climate investments and financing.
