Dr. Yang is currently the Associate Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, the Acting Dean of College of Education Sciences, and a Professor with the IoT Thrust at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He is also an adjunct professor with the Department of Broadband Communication at Peng Cheng Laboratory, the Chief Scientist of IoT at Terminus Group, and a Senior Consultant at Shenzhen Smart City Technology Development Group, China. Before joining HKUST (Guangzhou), he has held faculty positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Brunel University, U.K., University College London (UCL), U.K., CAS-SIMIT, and ShanghaiTech University, China. 

Yang's research interests include IoT technologies and applications, multi-tier computing networks, 5G/6G mobile communications, intelligent and customized services, and advanced wireless testbeds. He has published more than 300 papers and filed more than 120 technical patents in these research areas. Yang received his BEng and MEng degrees from Southeast University, China, in 1996 and 1999, respectively; and the PhD degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.



陈雷

数据科学与分析学域讲座教授

Dr. Lei CHEN is a chair professor in the Data Science and Analytic Thrust at HKUST (GZ), Fellow of the IEEE, and a Distinguished Member of the ACM. Currently, Prof. Chen serves as the dean of information hub, the acting head of Artiificial Intelligence Thrust at HKUST (GZ). Prof. Chen's research interests include Data-driven AI, knowledge graphs, blockchains, data privacy, crowdsourcing, spatial and temporal databases and query optimization on large graphs and probabilistic databases. He received his BS degree in computer science and engineering from Tianjin University, Tianjin, China, MA degree from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, and PhD in computer science from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Prof. Chen received the SIGMOD Test-of-Time Award in 2015, Best research paper award in VLDB 2022, .The system developed by Prof. Chen's team won the excellent demonstration award in VLDB 2014. Prof. Chen had served as VLDB 2019 PC Co-chair. Currently, Prof. Chen serves as Editor-in-chief of IEEE Transaction on Data and Knowledge Engineering and an executive member of the VLDB endowment.

张永祺

港科大(广州)信息枢纽  

数据科学与分析学域助理教授

Dr. Yongqi ZHANG is an Assistant Professor in the Thrust of Data Science and Analytics at HKUST(GZ) since July 2024. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Scientist at the AI listed-company 4Paradigm. He completed his doctoral degree in 2020 in the Department of Computer Science at HKUST, and obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2015. Under this background, Dr. Zhang has extensive academic and industry experience, as well as collaborations with partners. His main research interests include machine learning on relational graphs, reasoning with large language models, and interdisciplinary research in fields such as biomedicine. He has published 20 high-quality papers, including several first-author papers in influential journals such as Nature Computational Science, TPAMI, and VLDB-Journal, as well as presentations at top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, KDD, WebConf and ACL.

胡旭明

港科大(广州)信息枢纽

人工智能学域助理教授

Dr. Xuming HU is an Assistant Professor in the Artificial Intelligence Thrust at HKUST(GZ). He is also an Affiliated Assistant Professor of the department of Computer Science & Engineering. His research interests include natural language processing and large language models, specifically in trustworthy large language model exploration, distillation and acceleration of large language models, and the training and development of vertical large language models. In the past five years, Dr. Hu has published over 20 first-author papers in top international journals and conferences in the fields of data mining and natural language processing, such as KDD, ICLR, ACL, and TKDE. He has served as an Area Chair for top natural language processing conferences like ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, and EACL, as well as the Action Editor for ACL Rolling Review. Dr. Hu has also organized the 2023 International Big Data Competition and the 2022 Chongqing Artificial Intelligence Competition, attracting more than 3,000 teams worldwide. Dr. Hu has received several honors, including third place in the KDD Cup across all tracks, Outstanding Graduate of Beijing, Outstanding Graduate of Tsinghua University, and Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation of Tsinghua University.

戴恩炎

港科大(广州)信息枢纽

人工智能学域助理教授

Dr. Enyan DAI is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Artificial Intelligence Thrust at HKUST(GZ). He received his Ph.D. degree from the Pennsylvania State University.  Before that he received his master and bachelor degree from KU Leuven and University of Science and Technology of China, respectively. His research interests lie in trustworthy AI and its real-world applications. For the trustworthy AI, he has accomplished impactful works in aspects of fairness, robustness, privacy and explainability. In addition, he is keel on applying the trustworthy AI to various real-world scenarios including fake news detection, anomaly detection on power grids, and protein analysis. His works have been published in top-tier conferences and journals such as ICLR, NeurIPS, KDD, WWW, and TKDE.
