Dr. Yang is currently the Associate Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, the Acting Dean of College of Education Sciences, and a Professor with the IoT Thrust at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He is also an adjunct professor with the Department of Broadband Communication at Peng Cheng Laboratory, the Chief Scientist of IoT at Terminus Group, and a Senior Consultant at Shenzhen Smart City Technology Development Group, China. Before joining HKUST (Guangzhou), he has held faculty positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Brunel University, U.K., University College London (UCL), U.K., CAS-SIMIT, and ShanghaiTech University, China.
Yang's research interests include IoT technologies and applications, multi-tier computing networks, 5G/6G mobile communications, intelligent and customized services, and advanced wireless testbeds. He has published more than 300 papers and filed more than 120 technical patents in these research areas. Yang received his BEng and MEng degrees from Southeast University, China, in 1996 and 1999, respectively; and the PhD degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002. He is a Fellow of the IEEE.

Dr. Chu received his B.Eng. degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, Beijing, P. R. China, in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2003. He is currently a Professor at the Data Science and Analytics Thrust, Information Hub of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou). He has been working at the Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong Baptist University during 2003-2021. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM. He is a vice-chairman of the Blockchain Technical Committee of China Institute of Communications. His current research interests include GPU Computing, Distributed Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and Wireless Networks. He is especially interested in the modelling, parallel algorithm design, application optimization, and energy efficiency of GPU computing.

Dr. Xie is an Assistant Professor jointly appointed by DSA Thrust and AI Thrust of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou).
"Previously, I was a researcher at Baidu Research responsible for large models and AIGC research. I obtained Ph.D. and M.E. both from The University of Tokyo. I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. Issei Sato and Prof. Masashi Sugiyama. I was also affiliated with RIKEN AIP during the Ph.D. study. Before that, I obtained Bachelor of Science from University of Science and Technology of China. I am generally interested in understanding and solving fundamental issues of modern AI by scientific principles and methodology. My current research projects focus on foundations of machine learning and generative AI."
