Funded Ph.D. Positions for Fall 2025 at Penn State University
The Renewable Energy and Microgrid Power Lab at The Pennsylvania State University (PennState), led by Dr. Yan Li, is inviting applications for funded Ph.D. positions starting Fall 2025.
Dr. Yan Li, the Charles H. Fetter Endowed Fellow Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, is a senior IEEE member renowned for her research in cyber-physical power systems, renewable energy integration, stability analysis, machine learning, control, cybersecurity, and cutting-edge technology development for the energy system.
Research Opportunities: The successful candidates will engage in innovative research in the following areas, with applications in power systems:
·Dynamical system analysis, operation, and control
·Machine learning development and applications in energy systems
·High-performance computing for large-scale simulations
·Cyber-attack detection and defense strategies
Candidate Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who have:
·B.S. or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
·Solid foundational knowledge in power systems
·Strong mathematical aptitude
·Good communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English
·High motivation to work independently as well as part of a team
·Robust programming and technical writing skills
