What We Do

As the third line of defense, Internal Audit’s mission is to independently assess the firm’s internal control structure, including the firm’s governance processes and controls, and risk management and capital and anti-financial crime frameworks, raise awareness of control risk and monitor the implementation of management’s control measures.  In doing so, internal Audit:

  • Communicates and reports on the effectiveness of the firm’s governance, risk management and controls that mitigate current and evolving risk

  • Raise awareness of control risk

  • Assesses the firm’s control culture and conduct risks; and

  • Monitors management’s implementation of control measures

Goldman Sachs Internal Audit is organized into global teams comprising business and technology auditors to cover all the firm’s businesses and functions, including Global Markets, investment banking, consumer and investment management, risk management, finance, cyber-security and technology risk, and engineering.

As a Global Banking & Markets Engineering auditor, you will be involved in auditing various technology systems / applications used within the firm to provide assurance on the application controls related to Front Office like trade booking, Operations applications, data quality, data flows, data calculation processes used for regulatory reporting, along with other General Technology Controls including Application entitlement, Data Retention and Software Change Management.


As part of the third line of defense, you will be involved in independently assessing the firm’s overall control environment, and communicating the results to the firm’s local and global management the effectiveness of the firm’s controls that mitigate current and emerging risks, and monitoring the management’s implementation of control measures.  In doing so, you are supporting the provision of independent, objective and timely assurance around the firm’s internal control structure, and supporting the Audit Committee, the Board of Directors and Risk Committee in fulfilling their oversight responsibilities.


As an Analyst\Associate, you will play a vital role in audit execution focusing on the review of Engineering processes and analyzing the risks involved and assessing the design and operating effectiveness of the controls implemented to mitigate the risk.

  • Assist audit lead in planning and scoping processes and discussions. This includes meeting with stakeholders to understand key business processes and identify key risks and controls for assessment.

  • Execute audit testing to ensure audit fieldwork is focused on the right areas and documentation meets high quality standards.

  • Identify risks, assess mitigating controls, and make recommendations on improving the control environment.

  • Prepare commercially effective audit conclusions and findings, and present to Internal Audit senior management and business stakeholders.

  • Manage open audit issues and their resolution.

  • Assist in continuous monitoring processes, including regular meetings with stakeholders to assess changes in the control environment, impact of incidents and other matters that may impact coverage scope areas and the audit plan; develop executive summaries for discussion and presentation to senior audit management.

  • Participate in department-wide initiatives aimed at continually improving Internal Audit's processes and supporting infrastructure

  • 3+ years of experience as an Engineering / Technology auditor focusing on Financial Services Technology audits

  • BE/B Tech/BSc or equivalent University degree in Information Technology

  • Written and verbal communication skills a must; strong interpersonal skills essential. Job requires frequent interaction with senior technology management.

  • Understanding of software development concepts and system architecture

  • Must be able to multitask while managing both time and workloads

  • Understanding of Risk and Control environment and financial products

  • Ability to review codes (Java, C++, Python, etc.)

  • Experience with Data Analytics tools and techniques

  • Relevant certification or industry accreditation (e.g. CISA,CISM,CISSP,etc)

  • Knowledge of Financial Products and Services

  • Project Management skills

Our team collaborates with each of the firm's businesses, Controllers, Corporate Treasury, and Risk, among other groups at the firm, to gain the expertise required to provide critical analysis to project and forecast financial results. We use our expertise to execute strategic initiatives to provide internal clients, such as firm and divisional leadership, access to financial information more efficiently and effectively.

DIVISIONS AND JOB FUNCTIONS

Controllers play a key role in measuring and accurately reporting the profitability of the firm’s complex products, services and businesses globally. Professionals work with each of the firm’s businesses, gaining the expertise required to provide the critical analysis to ensure the internal and external financial information of the firm is accurate and that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. Teams are responsible for profit and loss (P&L) reporting and analysis, independent valuation, capital analysis and financial reporting. Professionals in this function have an analytical mindset, exhibit intellectual curiosity and are from diverse academic backgrounds.

Internal Audit assesses the firm’s internal control structure, advises management on developing control solutions, and monitors the implementation of these measures. Working in this department means you’ll be providing reasonable assurance that financial reporting is reliable, there is compliance with applicable laws and regulations and the firm’s operations are effectively controlled.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Bachelor’s degree

  • 0-5 years of prior work experience in a relevant field. 

  •  Proficient to advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

JOB DESCRIPTION


FINANCE | TAX

A team of professionals based in Bengaluru, Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore, and Tokyo serves the firm's Asia Pacific tax requirements. This team comprises both accountants and lawyers and is responsible for all aspects of the firm's tax affairs in the region, including advising the various businesses, structuring, managing and overseeing compliance, internal tax planning, supervision of tax-related accounting and operations, as well as advising on remuneration design and employee tax matters. 

The role requires a hands-on approach and is likely to be suitable for a candidate who has significant in-house China experience in the financial sector or potentially an outstanding candidate with industry experience within a large accounting firm.  The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge of the Chinese tax regime for purposes of both tax compliance and tax planning, and the management of cross-border firm and private equity fund’s investment transactions in the Chinese context.  The tax function within Goldman Sachs is highly integrated with other supporting departments such as Finance, Operations, Legal and Compliance, and the tax department role therefore requires extensive interaction with internal stakeholders, as well as the ability to deal with front-office teams and the firm's senior management.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting the following functions together with other members of China Tax Department:

  • Interaction with Chinese tax authorities directly or via local advisors as appropriate on correspondence, queries, audits and rulings

  • Advising various businesses on transactions and products including: Global Banking & Markets; Assets and Wealth Management; and Global Investment Research

  • Management of China transfer pricing matters, and direct and indirect tax compliance including working with local advisors/Controllers on return preparation and review of tax accruals

  • Providing guidance on complex cross-border investing transactions involving Chinese, offshore, Fund and principal investors; 

  • Familiarity and experience with non-tax issues involved in cross-border investing in China, such as foreign exchange and banking regulatory issues

  • Advising on changes in tax laws and regulations, and providing ad hoc advice and assistance to front, middle and back offices; and

  • Advising on internal reorganizations, remuneration and executive/ employee tax matters


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with China financial sector tax issues gained from working with a financial institution, large accounting firm or law firm

  • Ability to learn quickly and take responsibility, high integrity and reliability

  • Ability to work effectively in a team within or outside of Tax department

  • Ability to operate independently in confidence under stressful circumstances

  • Strong control awareness and ability to take a global view on issues; and 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese
