Pakistan-Ban Mo Academy Inauguration Ceremony and China-Pakistan Dialogue on Industry and Education Cooperation held
On November 19th, the inauguration ceremony of the Pakistan-Ban Mo Academy (hereinafter referred to as "Ban Mo Academy") and the China-Pakistan Dialogue on Industry and Education Cooperation were held simultaneously in Gwadar Port, Pakistan, and Jinan, Shandong. Passand Khan Buledi, Chairman Gwadar Port Authority of Pakistan, Yu Bo, Chairman China Overseas Ports Holding (Pakistan) Co., Ltd., Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Director Pakistan-China Vocational and Technical Institute, Zhong Jingzhi, Deputy Director Vocational Education Office of Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Zhang Baozhong, Director China Peace Development Foundation, and Zhang Zhidong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology, among other leaders, attended the meeting in person or online and delivered speeches.
Zhang Zhidong warmly welcomed the Chinese and Pakistani officials and guests who came from afar to discuss the establishment of the "Ban Mo Academy". He stated that in October this year, when Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Premier Li Qiang, he specifically mentioned the China-aided Pakistan-China Vocational and Technical Institute, which is jointly operated by Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology, Gwadar Port Authority, Gwadar University, and China Overseas Ports Holding Company. He emphasized that the institute will seize the opportunity of the "Ban Mo Academy", leverage the school's industry-education integration advantages, work closely with all parties involved, implement the "Vocational Education Going Global" 2.0 version, practice the new model and new practice of vocational education innovation and development in Shandong, and shape a down-to-earth and popular vocational education overseas "Ban Mo Academy" brand.
Dr. Manzoor Ahmed affirmed the construction achievements of the Pakistan-China Vocational Institute and expressed gratitude for the support provided by Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology in professional construction, teacher training, and online teaching. He mentioned that in August, more than 60 students from the Pakistan-China Vocational Institute had graduated smoothly and entered local enterprises and government institutions. Currently, the Pakistan-China Vocational Institute has completed the enrollment of the second batch of three-year degree students in majors such as e-commerce, software technology, and port management. He hopes to use the "Ban Mo Academy" platform to provide more digital educational resources and technical skills training for local youth in Gwadar and Balochistan. He stated that after the completion of the teacher training project in Pakistan, local teachers will join the teaching team of the Pakistan-China Vocational Institute in the spring semester, allowing Chinese vocational education wisdom and experience to benefit more local students in Pakistan.
Yu Bo shared the construction situation and significant changes in the Gwadar area, stating that as the operator of Gwadar Free Zone, China Overseas Ports Holding Company attaches great importance to cooperation with Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology and will fully support and cooperate with all aspects of the "Ban Mo Academy". He called for joint efforts between schools and enterprises to promote China-Pakistan economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people bonds, contributing to industry-education strength.
Passand Khan Buledi emphasized in his online speech that Gwadar Port is a flagship project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor under the "Belt and Road" initiative, and 60% of the youth in the Gwadar area needs vocational training. The Gwadar Port Authority fully supports the construction of the Pakistan-China Vocational Institute and the "Ban Mo Academy". He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese government and Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology for their wholehearted support for Gwadar Port and the people of Pakistan at all times and in all areas, looking forward to deepening cooperation with participating colleges and enterprises to achieve more practical results.
Subsequently, the Pakistan-China Vocational and Technical Institute, the Gwadar Port Authority of the Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and China Overseas Ports Holding (Pakistan) Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly build the "Pakistan-Ban Mo Academy".The four parties held the inauguration ceremony of the "Pakistan-Ban Mo Academy" simultaneously in Jinan and Gwadar.
