Emerging Trends and Challenges on Advanced Oxidation/Reduction Technologies in the Environmental, Energy, and Climate Sectors
Submission DeadLine: 30 April 2025
This special issue (SI) edition aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art advancements and challenges concerning the development and application of Advanced Oxidation/Reduction Technologies (AO/RTs) in the environmental, energy, and climate sectors. The ultimate goal is to foster the transition towards a sustainable and carbon-neutral circular economy. AO/RTs have emerged as highly efficient and sustainable technologies for detecting and removing pollutants from water matrices, producing green hydrogen, synthetic fuels, ammonia, facilitating green organic synthesis, and converting CO2 into valuable products.
The SI will encompass the following key themes:i) Non-photochemical advanced oxidation/reduction processes (AO/RPs) in homogeneous phase;ii) Photochemical AO/RPs in homogeneous phase;iii) Non-photochemical AO/RPs in heterogeneous phase;iv) Photochemical AO/RPs in heterogeneous phase;v) Integration of AO/RTs with biological oxidation, adsorption, membrane separation, and other processes.vi) Solar-driven AO/RTs.vii) Sensors for in-situ detection and quantification of contaminants.viii) Photochemical AO/RTs in natural water, drinking water, wastewater, soil and air exposed to sunlight.ix) AO/RTs for waste streams valorization (high-value products).x) AO/RTs to support relevant interlinkages between Water, Energy, Food, Climate, and Ecosystem Nexus.xii) Photocatalysis/electrocatalysis for organic synthesis.xii) Photocatalysis/electrocatalysis for oxidants (persulfate, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, chlorine dioxide, etc.) production.xiii) Contactor/photoreactor configurations (bubble columns, tubular photoreactors, membrane photoreactors, micro-photoreactors, solar collectors, etc.).xiii) Modelling and simulation of AO/RTs.xiv) Application of artificial intelligence for predicting reaction results in advanced oxidation processes;xv) Industrial applications and real-world implementation of AO/RTs.

Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering的CAR指数
