In some countries, celebrities complain about the way the media publicizes their private lives. Some people say that they should accept it as part of their fame. Do you agree or disagree?

It has been a long-standing issue regarding the extent to which the privacy of public figures should be nosed about by the media. Certain groups especially star tabloids claim that the attention surrounding celebrities not only boost the popularity of their public image, but also constitutes an indispensable part of the entertainment industry. Considering the multiple repercussions of this act, I firmly contend otherwise.
First of all, the fanatic pursuit of celebrities put the safety of the public at risk. It has been a common phenomenon that gossip rags wait in the lobby of airports just to snap a few flustered photos of stars’ travelling. Sometimes they would follow the heels of celebrities rather unscrupulously and disturbed the trip of other passengers. To make matters worse, fans of red-hot stars scream and shout their idol’s name, causing a frenzy in public occasions. This irrational scene poses a threat to the normal lives of ordinary citizens.
In addition, the publicity of stars’ private lives would eventually doom themselves. Many of celebrities are young performers who just step into the society shortly. They are quite new at handling bad press and the stress of media attention. Any peccadillo they had, from their physicals to professional aspects might be blown up by the media. Their misguided groupies might also take a stab at the supposedly immaculate celebrities. As a result, they walk on eggshells every day, always feeling a dagger shoving down their throat. It has been tragically reported that this overwhelming pressure have led some celebrities to depression, even suicide.
Last but not least, we mustn’t overlook the effect of abnormal obsession over celebrities on the younger generation. Whatever media outlets we glanced over nowadays is filled with trivial portrayal of celebrities’ lives . More and more teenagers have been so brainwashed by the clothes stars wear on their vacation, the fancy restaurant they hang out with their friends that they start to think a cushy lifestyle is the only mark of success. A lot of adolescents squandered their prime years in school following the swanky journey of their idols. It’s a waste of public resources and youth of how media works nowadays.
In conclusion, the positive image of public figures should be better exploited in the way of charity, exceptional work ethics, etc. Undue focus on their privacy should be curbed not only for the sake of themselves but also for public interests at stake. It’s never too late to give a healthy environment of the show business to the next generation.
