 General 


The Coalition for Anti-Racism and Equity (CARE) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Program Director to oversee our Leadership Next Gen (LNG) Fellowship and the Next Gen Activators Fellowship. As our first full-time hire, the Program Director will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of these programs, ensuring they are implemented effectively and achieving their goals of empowering high school and college students from underrepresented communities to become civic and community leaders and advocates for social justice and equity.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership Next Gen (LNG) Fellowship:

Program Coordination: Oversee the recruitment, selection, and enrollment processes of Fellows. Coordinate all aspects of the Fellowship, including internships, seminars, mentorship, and stipend distribution.

Internship Management: Liaise with community partners and legislative offices to secure and coordinate internship placements. Ensure that Fellows receive meaningful, hands-on experience.

Seminar Facilitation: Coordinate with the Commonwealth Seminar to deliver high-quality legislative and civic engagement training.

Mentorship Support: Pair Fellows with dedicated mentors and organize consistent check-ins to provide guidance and support.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Track the progress of Fellows, collect feedback, and evaluate the impact of the program. Prepare regular reports for stakeholders.


Next Gen Activators Fellowship:

Program Development: Launch and manage the Next Gen Activators Fellowship. Ensure the program meets its objectives of training high school and college st dents in civil rights, social justice, equity organizing, and community activism.

Orientation and Planning: Organize an orientation event in the first quarter of 2025.  Facilitate planning sessions to co-design the vision and timeline for the youth-led statewide initiative.

Monthly Learning Series: Coordinate four monthly sessions from March to June 2025, each three hours long, covering topics such as grassroots movements, immigration law, healthcare equity, national policy, community relations, racial justice, and policing.

Statewide Conference: Plan and execute a statewide youth-led initiative for the fall/winter of 2025. Support Activators in co-facilitating workshops, taking on leadership roles, and empowering other youth.

Youth Empowerment and Leadership: Foster an environment of collaboration and empowerment among Activators. Support them in driving the vision and implementation of the conference and beyond.

Monthly Meetings and Task Forces: Organize regular full-group meetings and facilitate the formation of task forces or subgroups based on shared interests or project initiatives.




General Responsibilities


● Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community partners, legislative offices, and other stakeholders. Engage in outreach to promote the programs and secure additional support.

● Budget Management: Oversee the budget for both Fellowships, ensuring funds are used effectively and transparently.

● Fundraising and Outreach: Assist in organizing fundraising events and campaigns to support the sustainability of the programs. Develop promotional materials and engage with potential funders.

● Grant Writing: Research foundations and develop and submit grant proposals to secure additional funding for program expansion and sustainability.

● Communication: Maintain regular communication with Fellows, mentors, and stakeholders. Provide updates on program progress and address any issues that arise.

● Publicity: Develop and implement external communications strategy to publicize programs in traditional and social media outlets.

● Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed reports on program activities, outcomes, and impact to stakeholders and funders.


This position reports to the CARE Board of Directors and works closely with the Board President and the Leadership Next Gen Board Committee. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the CARE Board within the scope of the role. Must pass the CORI check.




Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Public Policy, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management, prefe rably ineducation or a related field. Experience working with youth and in advocacy or social justice work is highly desirable. Additional experience in legislative advocacy or legislative work with elected offices is preferred.

Skills:

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, graphic design platform and program management software.

Experience with budget management and fundraising.

Ability to manage and maintain program social media platforms and presence.

Attributes:
