ISETS Youth Voice Competition Divisional Finals Conclude

October 16, 2024 — The divisional finals of the 2024 ISETS-ESCAP Youth Voice Competition have successfully concluded, highlighting some of the brightest young talents in energy transition innovation. Out of nearly 300 participants across 77 teams, seven exceptional teams emerged as first-place winners from their respective divisions, showcasing remarkable creativity and a strong commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. These winning teams will now move on to compete in the highly anticipated Global Final Competition.

The seven winning teams advancing to the Global Final Competition are:

1. Team Energy Victory (EV) from Northeast Asia, with their project titled "Drawing the Blueprint of Traffic Electrification with Digital Twin".

2. Team PoWater from Northeast Asia,  presenting "Store the Surplus Renewable Energy and Use the Stored Energy for Atmospheric Water Harvest (AWH) or Dehumidification".

3. Team Lumio from Northeast Asia, with their initiative "Building a Vibrant and Carbon-Neutral  University Campus".

4. Team Y4E Southeast Asia from Southeast  Asia, working on "Achieving SDG 7 Through the Power of Youth: Building Youth for Energy Southeast Asia".

5. Team AlgaeN from South Asia, with the project " AlgaeFuel: Powering Tomorrow".

6. Team Kyuka Ventures Innovation Hub from Africa, focusing on " Plastics to Fuel".

7. Team BioFSM from Mixed Regions and Others, showcasing their project " Biofuel of Sheep    Manure".

The Global Final Competition is scheduled to take place in Chengdu, China, from November 28-30, 2024, and will be hosted by the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE). Organized by SWUFE's School of Public Administration, this prestigious event will bring together youth leaders from around the globe, providing them a platform to present and further refine their innovative ideas aimed at tackling the challenges of energy transition.

Following the Global Final Competition in Chengdu, all seven team representatives will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, to participate in the Youth Dialogue at the UN ESCAP Headquarters. This dialogue, which will take place from December 2-4, 2024, is part of the 13th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development (IFESD). Here, the youth leaders will have the opportunity to engage with global experts and policymakers, exchanging insights and shaping future energy policies.

These events will provide the representatives and other participating youth leaders an international platform to deliberate on energy transition messages and strategies. They will also work on establishing the ISETS Youth Group, fostering international collaboration, and developing impactful strategies aimed at advancing sustainable energy solutions globally.
