获奖揭晓 | “W.A.Y 未海岸”青年共建之旅暨威海“精致六公里 海岸微改造”设计竞赛

这是一次新锐的、高水平的建筑设计竞赛。本次设计工作并非简单针对建筑功能和形态，而是站在城市维度进行设计考量，是一次对于威海城市环境营造、城市精神塑造和引领的集体思考。

竞赛所设计的建筑虽然体量较小，但设计任务所涉及的信息量大并且维度多元，折射出了多重的设计挑战：

态度的选择与力度的把控。建筑以何种态度介入现状，是自我彰显还是融入整体？用怎样的轻重手法进行设计？  

“新与旧”的关系。项目场地中的时间痕迹，时空年轮，可能是很感人的，重新涂抹一遍是否真正合理？在更长的时间线上去看，有些建筑与景观看似残破，但可能比新做的东西更能打动人。 

“自然与人工”的向度把握。海边的场地具有强烈的自然属性，建筑的介入，是强调人工的力量还是顺应自然？  

“运营与场景”的考量。设计出来的场景如何适应现实的运营情境？例如如何回应威海的季节变化，如何平衡场地日常功能与打卡目的地的角色差异等，需要在未来建设落地前作更深入思考。 

This is an up-and-coming, high-level architectural design competition. The design work is not simply for the building function and form, but stands in the urban dimension of design considerations, is a collective thinking about Weihai urban environment creation, urban spirit shaping and leading. Although the building designed in the competition is small in size, the design task involves a large amount of information and multiple dimensions, reflecting multiple design challenges: 

“Choice of Attitude and Control of Strength": What kind of attitude does the building take to intervene in the current situation, whether it is self-expression or integration into the whole? What kind of light and heavy techniques should be used in the design?  

The relationship between the “new and the old”: the traces of time in the project site, the wheel of time and space, may be very touching, but is it really reasonable to repaint them? In a longer time line, some buildings and landscapes may look dilapidated, but they may be more touching than new ones. 

Grasping the direction of “nature and artificiality”: The seaside site has strong natural attributes, does the intervention of architecture emphasize the power of artificiality or does it follow the nature?  

Consideration of “operation and scenario”: How can the designed scenario be adapted to the real operation situation? For example, how to respond to the seasonal changes in Weihai, how to balance the difference in roles between the daily function of the site and the destination, etc., requires more in-depth thinking before the construction of the future. 

有时候建筑不在于多大，但是能够带活整一个片区。威海拥有世界级的海岸线资源，的确可以通过设计的赋能，挖掘出很大的影响力，以小博大。

竞赛组织得很好，吸引了年轻优秀的事务所来到威海的海岸线的建设。但建筑设计仅是其中一个视角，项目成功与否其实与运营非常有关系。未来需要考虑设计与运营匹配的问题，也许运营视角的提前介入，才能够保证设计的品质在落地过程中得以延续。因此，竞赛只是一个开始，后面还有很多环节，需要设置合理的机制和方法，才能够让这个项目最好地呈现出来。

Sometimes it's not the size of the building that counts, but the fact that it can revitalize a whole area. Weihai has world-class coastline resources, which can indeed be tapped into through the empowerment of design to create a great impact and make a big difference in a small way.

The competition was well organized and attracted young and talented firms to build the coastline of Weihai. However, architectural design is only one of the perspectives, and the success of a project is actually very much related to its operation. In the future, we need to consider the issue of matching design and operation, and perhaps the early intervention of the operation perspective can ensure that the quality of the design can be continued in the process of landing. Therefore, the competition is only the beginning, and there are still many links behind, and we need to set up a reasonable mechanism and method to make the best presentation of this project. 

国内南方城市竞赛活动很多，在北方则较少。此次在威海的竞赛是领风气之先，令人鼓舞。期待开花结果，成为威海的品牌活动之一。 

威海的海岸线特别长，每一块场地都有其特殊性。在考量本次竞赛的方案时，着眼点不应局限于建筑单体，更应关注如何遴选合适的场域处理方式。

在这次竞赛中，年轻选手们展现出强有力的设计能力和旺盛的工作热情，设计思路令人备受启发。作为一个面向青年人的项目，我们还需要更深入思考如何用合适的手法将“年轻感”赋予场地。年轻感不能完全被理解为一种时尚感，更应体现出与地方共生的“威海在地性”。

There are many competitions in the southern cities of China, but fewer in the north. This competition in Weihai is the first of its kind and is encouraging. We expect it to blossom and become one of Weihai's brand activities. 

Weihai's coastline is particularly long, and each site has its own special characteristics. When considering the program for this competition, the focus should not be limited to the building monolith, but also on how to select the appropriate treatment of the site.

In this competition, the young participants have shown strong design ability and enthusiasm, and their design ideas are very inspiring. As a youth-oriented project, we need to think more deeply about how to give a sense of youthfulness to the site in an appropriate way. Youthfulness should not be interpreted as a sense of fashion, but should also reflect the “local nature of Weihai”, which is symbiotic with the place. 

这次竞赛的竞争非常激烈，参与的团队都特别优秀，特别用心。方案不乏独特的观点与新鲜的想法，能够感受到设计师对参与这段海岸线塑造的真诚和热情。 

值得商榷的是，本次竞赛的设计方案或多或少存在设计过度问题。这次海岸线小建筑设计的主要挑战是如何在海边碎片化的场地中以建筑为媒介建立联系，让场地能够产生更好的通用性，而不是围绕某一个建筑去发力。在未来的运营存在不确定性的时候，设计的通用性，是一个特别值得去思考的方向。  

The competition was fierce, and the teams involved were all very good and attentive. There was no lack of unique perspectives and fresh ideas, and we could feel the sincerity and enthusiasm of the designers to participate in the shaping of this coastline. 

It is debatable that the design proposals in this competition are more or less over-designed. The main challenge of this small building design for the coastline is how to create connections in the fragmented site by the sea with the medium of architecture, so that the site can produce better versatility instead of powering around a particular building. When there is uncertainty about future operations, the universality of design is a direction that is particularly worth thinking about.  

这是一个很小的项目，也是一个很大的项目。设计师需要通过一个很小的建筑去折射到整个区域大景观。在这个命题下容易出现的问题就是“理念不够大，动作不够小”，非常考验设计师的功力，如何能够用很小的动作实现整体景观的重新整理，以一个针灸的方式对大景观行了一个重组和再定义。

设计的另一个重要命题，是如何用设计手法将“威海之海”的特质重新定义，形成一个凝聚在时空中的基点。北方的海景、工业遗存、居民的生活痕迹，这些文脉如何在每个建筑里被创造性地定义出来？威海拥有世界其他城市无法企及的海岸资源，期待实现一个跟这里的山海一样永恒的设计策略。

This is a very small project and a very big project. The designer needs to refract the big landscape of the whole region through a very small building. The problem that tends to arise under this proposition is that “the idea is not big enough, but the action is not small enough”. So this is really a great test of the designer's ability, how to realize the reorganization of the whole landscape with very small actions. In an acupuncture way, the landscape is reorganized and redefined.

Another important proposition of the design is how to redefine the qualities of “Weihai's Sea” with design techniques to form a cohesive base in time and space. How to creatively define the northern seascape, the industrial heritage, and the traces of the residents' lives in each building? Weihai is blessed with coastal resources unrivaled by any other city in the world, and we are looking forward to realizing a design strategy that is as timeless as the mountains and the sea here.
