About the position
The Operations Research group in the Department of Mathematics at the London School of Economics (LSE) is inviting applications for exceptionally talented and motivated students to join their PhD program. The studentships are for individuals with a strong mathematical background and a keen interest in the following topics within algorithms and optimisation:
Algorithmic game theory
Linear, convex, and integer programming
Approximation algorithms
Algorithms beyond the worst-case
Combinatorial optimisation
Matroid theory
Multi-agent learning
Network design and optimisation
Random structures and phase transitions

Funding Details
Fully funded studentships, which cover fees and provide an annual stipend (for 2024 entry, the stipend was £21,237, usually tax-free).
The award of the studentships is competitive and based on academic performance.
Application date
Complete applications (including references) must be submitted by 15 January 2025 to be considered for the studentships.
