About the position
The Combinatorics Group at Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking highly motivated graduate students (Masters and Ph.D. level) for fully-funded positions starting in the Fall 2025 term. We encourage applications from students interested in the following research areas:
Pursuit-evasion problems and discrete time processes
Graph decompositions and combinatorial designs
Graph colourings
Combinatorial game theory
About the Combinatorics Group
The Combinatorics Group at Memorial University is recognized for both its research excellence and teaching achievements. The faculty members include recipients of prestigious awards such as the Kirkman Medal and Hall Medal from the Institute of Combinatorics and its Applications, as well as the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Association of Atlantic Universities.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Memorial University ranks in the top 400 in the Shanghai Ranking and the top 550 in the QS Ranking. Many members of the Combinatorics Group are also involved in the AARMS collaborative research group "Games and Graph Searching in Atlantic Canada," which can be explored here:

Current Graduate Supervision
We currently supervise 13 graduate students and are expanding the group. The Combinatorics Group values a variety of perspectives and backgrounds, and encourages applications from individuals with diverse experiences and from various locations.
