During the forthcoming Spring Festival, discounted fares will be implemented for passenger trains during non-peak times and directions, with the maximum discount for conventional trains going as low as 20 percent and for high-speed trains going as low as 30, allowing passengers to have more travel options.

This was announced on January 8 at a press conference by the Information Office of the State Council. According to the introduction, by 2024, China's total operational railway mileage exceeded 162,000 kilometres, including over 48,000 kilometres of high-speed rail. More than 14,000 passenger trains are scheduled daily, with an additional capacity of around 500,000 seats, marking a year-on-year increase in seating capacity of approximately 4%.
