以下是详细信息。
Dr. Giulio RAGAZZON, group leader at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) of the University of Strasbourg (France) is seeking and recruiting high level PhD students with CSC scholarship in 2025.
Research field: Non-equilibrium supramolecular chemistry Period of study: 3-4years
Major requirements: Supramolecular chemistry, Physical chemistry, Organic chemistry Language requirements: good knowledge of English for scientific discussion and integration. No requirement for French or specific score of IELTS or TOEFL.
Dr. Giulio RAGAZZON is a young emerging scientist in the field of supramolecular chemistry and non-equilibrium systems. His research has been published regularly in high-impact journals such as Nat. Nanotechnol., Chem., Angew. Chem., etc. and he received prestigious prizes and grants, such as the European Young Chemist Award – gold medal, and the ERC Starting grant (2021). His group is based at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) of the University of Strasbourg (see https://isis.unistra.fr/ ) ISIS is a small multidisciplinary institute with about 15 research groups, and 4 Nobel laureates, offering a stimulating environment. There is no ZRR zone within the institute.
The RAGAZZON research group (see https://ragazzonlab.isis.unistra.fr/ ) is focusing on the study of non-equilibrium systems powered by chemical, electrochemical, and photochemical energy. In particular, we are interested in designing, synthetizing and operating supramolecular systems that can perform energy-demanding (endergonic) processes, such as those at the basis of Life. Our approach extends from demonstrating fundamental concepts to applying them, also in supramolecular materials.
The laboratory is well-equipped, with top facilities accessible at the Institute. The group has currently > 10 members from all over the world, including one CSC-funded PhD student (who just submitted a major work, from the first year of her PhD). Dr. Ragazzon keeps close communication with all group members kindly. The group promotes a friendly atmosphere where you can learn from each other, both technical skills and scientific thinking. Our students acquire skills in all aspects of supramolecular, organic, and physical chemistry, including synthesis, analysis and rationalization of the studied systems.
Dr. Ragazzon will help with the application for CSC including the invitation letter and research proposal if it is confirmed that you will apply based on this project.
If you are interested, highly motivated and with an excellent CV, please send your CV to ragazzon@unistra.fr We are looking forward to work together!

Giulio Ragazzon is a junior group leader at the Institut de Science et d’Ingeniérie Supramoléculaires (ISIS) in Strasbourg, France. He obtained his PhD in 2017 at the University of Bologna, where he developed an autonomous molecular pump and investigated other chemically- and redox-controlled molecular machines. For his postdoc, he worked on non-equilibrium self-assembly at the University of Padova, showing how the principles at the basis of molecular machines can be exploited to induce a self-assembly process under thermodynamically unfavored conditions. In late 2018, he joined the University of Trieste as an assistant professor, applying his knowledge to engineer the catalytic and optical properties of carbon-based nanoparticles. In 2021, he started his independent career at his current institution. His group's research aims to unravel how energy sources can drive non-equilibrium processes at the molecular level. As a result of his contributions, he received prestigious awards and grants: in 2016, he received the European Young Chemist Award, the most important European recognition at the PhD level; in 2021, he received the ERC Starting grant, to develop artificial systems that harvest chemical energy to realize endergonic reactions. You can learn more about Giulio in his Angewandte profile: Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2023, e202300382.
