WAB Community Market

 

The annual Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) Community Market, organized by Charity Link – a branch of the WAB Parent Link – has become a beloved tradition within the community, one that not only spreads joy but also brings people together to support meaningful causes. This year’s market will be held on Nov 23 from 10am to 3pm, promising a lively atmosphere filled with thoughtfully curated gifts, student projects, vibrant performances, and food from across the globe.

Jazzy Preschool Baby Group

 

Jazzy Preschool, a trilingual English, French, and Chinese kindergarten, is glad to invite you to their Baby Group for toddlers from 0 to 3 years old. Join them to participate in parent-child bonding activities accompanied by their early childhood professionals in three languages, as well as to meet other parents and share experiences. Join them to:

· Play tailored activities for babies and discover nursery rhymes in English, French, and Chinese

· Learn more about their trilingual education (English-French-Chinese) and their Italian curriculum.

ALICE (in wonderland)

Hong Kong Ballet will bring its award-winning production ALICE (in wonderland) to Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts on Nov 15 and 16.

 

Choreographed by the company's artistic director Septime Webre, the production, based on English novelist Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865), has enjoyed worldwide success since its premiere for the Washington Ballet in 2012.

The production premiered in Hong Kong in 2018 to sold-out performances. Audiences in Beijing will experience the dizzying adventure when Alice tumbles down the rabbit hole and encounters a host of colorful characters like the jumpy White Rabbit, the vengeful Queen of Hearts and many more.

Daystar Academy Open House
 

In the most recent Zongheng International School Chinese Debate Tournament, Daystar’s middle school teams swept all awards categories: Champion of Second Half, Grand Champion, Top Overall Debater, and Top Debater for Each Round. Daystar students have also won recognition and multiple awards in English debate competitions.

In the 2024 Harvard Debate Council Summer Camp, after 12 rounds of competition, Daystar students won the Champion prize in the Public Forum Debate. In the TOC ASIA National Debate Championship, Daystar students won the high school division Championship in Public Forum debate, and also received the Outstanding Speaker Award.

According to recent official data from MAP testing, while Daystar students enter Pre-K and Grade 1 with lower average reading scores than their peers in the U.S., they catch up by Grade 2 and begin to outperform U.S. students by Grade 4.

Free BJU Childbirth Preparation Classes
 

Now’s the time to sign up for the November English childbirth class! The class will be taught by Cindy Yan and Grace Yu, two midwives with a combined 50+ years of international experience. The class is free of charge and includes light snacks and fruit.
