In the most recent Zongheng International School Chinese Debate Tournament, Daystar’s middle school teams swept all awards categories: Champion of Second Half, Grand Champion, Top Overall Debater, and Top Debater for Each Round. Daystar students have also won recognition and multiple awards in English debate competitions. In the 2024 Harvard Debate Council Summer Camp, after 12 rounds of competitions, Daystar students won the Champion prize in the Public Forum Debate. In the TOC ASIA National Debate Championship, Daystar students won the high school division Championship in Public Forum debate and also received the Outstanding Speaker Award. According to recent official data from MAP testing, while Daystar students enter Pre-K and Grade 1 with lower average reading scores than their peers in the U.S., they catch up by Grade 2 and begin to outperform U.S. students by Grade 4.
