1、Human players including a Chinese vocational school girl beat 563 AI teams entering final of global math competition
None of the 563 artificial intelligence (AI) teams from the world's leading universities, colleges and enterprises reached the final round in the 2024 Alibaba Global Mathematics Competition, in which a 17-year-old Chinese girl from a vocational high school ranked 12th, sparking heated discussion on Chinese social media platforms for days.
The web-based competition has no diploma requirements and is open to math enthusiasts from all walks of life to participate, and this year's competition was open for the first time to AI powered participants.
Jiang Ping, a fashion major trainee at a vocational high school in East China's Jiangsu Province, is unique as the first vocational high school student to reach the final round, alongside students from top institutions including MIT, Tsinghua, and Peking universities.

3、Man accused of using AI to create fake nude photos
A male suspect surnamed Bai has been accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to create nearly 7,000 fake nude photos involving female students and teachers, which he sold for 1.5 yuan ($0.25) each. The topic has gained more than 70 million views on Sina Weibo on Tuesday, with netizens calling for more rational use of AI technology, and harsher punishments for those who misuse it.
Bai is suspected of using AI software to create and sell pornographic content for profit and Beijing Haidian District People's Court heard the case on April 19. It was the first case at the court involving the use of AI to produce pornographic material.

4、Tencent to ban digital influencers from livestreaming
WeChat owner Tencent will ban virtual influencers from livestreaming on its TikTok-like service Video Accounts, a strict move that the tech giant said aims to “encourage more real live hosts who can interact with viewers in real-time.”
The move comes as rival platforms have largely adopted a hands off approach to AI-powered anchors.
According to a draft rule covering “low-quality content,” the platform would ban avatars powered by AI or plugins from livestreaming and selling, and would penalize offenders depending upon the severity of the incident. The draft regulation underwent a ten-day public feedback period in early June and is expected to go into effect on Friday.

5、Third Global Digital Trade Expo to attract top global enterprises
The third Global Digital Trade Expo, the only international and professional expo in China focused on digital trade, will be held in Hangzhou from Sept 25 to 29.
At a countdown event held on June 17, it was revealed that preparations for the expo are progressing rapidly, with nearly half of the exhibition space already booked. Major global digital trade enterprises, including Alibaba, Huawei, Tesla, Amazon, Walmart, AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Baidu, have confirmed their participation.
The expo will take place at the Hangzhou International Expo Center, adjacent to Hangzhou International Airport, with a net exhibition area exceeding 150,000 square meters.
The eight specialized areas will focus on hot topics in digital trade, including data and finance, Silk Road e-commerce, artificial intelligence, smart cities, digital entertainment, smart travel, digital healthcare, and consumer electronics, highlighting future trends and directions in digital trade.

China has established a charging infrastructure network that boasts the world's largest number of installations, the most extensive services, and the most diverse range of options, according to the country's top economic planner.

7、‘The Three-Body Problem’ expected to see mega-budget film adaptation
"The Three-Body Problem," a sci-fi magnum opus by Liu Cixin, will enjoy "limitless" investment in its movie adaptation project, its production company said Tuesday.
It was previously announced during the SIFF that acclaimed Chinese director Zhang Yimou will lead the film adaptation of "The Three-Body Problem," considered a milestone in Chinese sci-fi literature.
Hugo Award winner Liu Cixin's sci-fi trilogy "The Three-Body Problem" has been translated into more than 30 languages. It was previously adapted into animation, television and radio dramas.
Zhang, who is now in his 70s, has won dozens of awards around the world. His directorial works include "Red Sorghum," "Hero" and "The Great Wall."

A rare case is trending top on Chinese social media that a Chinese woman was diagnosed with the "vampire disease" with her entire family including her husband and children being later found to carry the gene of the rare disease.
The 52-year-old woman surnamed Lin was diagnosed with porphyria - a rare disease known to the public in recent years as the "vampire disease".
Porphyria is a disease caused by a deficiency or reduced activity of enzymes in the body, leading to a blockage in the synthesis of hemoglobin, resulting in porphyrin metabolism disorders. Patients with porphyria are photosensitive and experience itching, burning, and pain when exposed to sunlight, hence the nickname "vampire disease."

9、China to include Australia in visa-free countries
China will include Australia in the list of unilateral visa-free countries, Premier Li Qiang said on Monday.
Li, who is paying an official visit to Australia, made the announcement at a news conference held jointly with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra.
During their talks at the Parliament House, the two leaders welcomed the further increase of people-to-people exchanges and highlighted the important role the exchanges play in deepening the bilateral relationship.
They also welcomed the implementation of arrangements to facilitate exchanges, including reciprocal access to multi-entry visas of up to three to five years' duration for business, tourism, and visiting family members.

10、High-speed sleeper train makes first trip between Beijing and Hong Kong
The first high-speed sleeper train from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Beijing departed from Hong Kong on the evening of June 15, and arrived in Beijing on the morning of June 16.
The new service will operate between Hong Kong's West Kowloon Station and Beijing West Railway Station every Friday to Monday. The train reduces the travel time between Beijing and Hong Kong by rail to about 12.5 hours from 24.5 hours.
