1、Top securities firm removes person in charge after intern leaks sensitive information in viral video

A short video titled "Fresher from a top university interning at an investment bank for a day" went viral on social media platforms in recent days. What caught public attention was not only the student's extravagant behavior of flaunting wealth, but also the inclusion of several ongoing IPO projects being run by China Securities Co., Ltd. (CSC).

The video led to the leakage of sensitive information within the company, sparking widespread attention from both within and outside the industry and plunging the securities firm into a public relations maelstrom.

CSC stated that the student was introduced into the company's research program by the head of a team in the investment banking department in violation of regulations, and the company has removed the person in charge of the team and will hold the head of the investment banking department accountable.

2、China Makes More Films Accessible for Blind People

Several of China’s biggest summer blockbusters have been released with audio description for blind and visually impaired cinemagoers, in a sign that the country’s film industry is gradually embracing accessibility.

Audio description — often referred to as “barrier-free movies” in China — is a separate soundtrack that plays simultaneously during a movie, describing the action as it is happening for blind and visually impaired viewers.

The service, which people typically listen to via a handset and headphones, can help blind people better visualize a scene and understand visual gags and other non-verbal cues that will enrich their enjoyment of the film.

4、Temu’s Chinese suppliers protest in Guangzhou over penalty policy

Hundreds of Chinese suppliers gathered outside Temu’s Guangzhou office building for a few days at the end of July to protest, as merchants were growing angry over the e-commerce platform’s after-service sales penalty policy.

According to Chinese media outlets that had talked to the protest suppliers, Temu has been issuing a large number of fines since March without explaining the specific problems that have been violated in each case, with the maximum penalty reaching five times the declared price of the goods. 5、Taobao loosens “refund-only” policy months after introduction

Taobao said it would relax the half-year in operation “refund-only” policy that allows shoppers to get a refund without returning the product, citing as a reason “optimizing the business environment while ensuring consumer rights.”

The policy, perceived as being preferential to customers over e-commerce platforms, was a lesson both Taobao and JD.com learned from the policy’s inventor Pinduoduo.

Taobao merchants with good operating records will henceforth have more autonomy to deal with shoppers’ refund requests, according to Alibaba.

Tmall, the Alibaba-owned retail platform that boasts the most brand merchants, announced it is set to erase its annual seller service fee beginning on Sept. 1, a fee that comes to between RMB 30,000 ($4134.7) and RMB 60,000 a year.

9、World No. 1 Wang falls in table tennis men's singles, not blaming "broken bat" for loss

China's world No.1 Wang Chuqin was shockingly defeated by Truls Moregard of Sweden 2-4 in round of 32 of the men's singles table tennis at the Paris Olympics after his bat got snapped.

Wang's bat was accidentally broken on Tuesday after the mixed doubles final match, so he had to play with his backup bat. However, he did not believe that using the backup bat was the main reason for his loss.

"It's because I wasn't good enough today. My opponent had some changes in his serves and I didn't respond to them well enough. It's got nothing to do with the bat. I'll reflect on this loss, and come back strong for the team event," said Wang.

"Today I did not expect to break the record actually. It's a perfect result and it's a big step for me and the Chinese swimming team."

The 19-year-old said that he had slept little before the final because of a doping test that ran into the early hours of the morning.

"I did not sleep well and did not feel good today when I arrived at the arena. All the tests have not affected me much and I'm not annoyed by it. It's a part of the rules."
