Special issue information:

The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays a pivotal role in cancer progression, influencing tumor growth, immune evasion, and metastasis. Among the various factors within the TME, cytokines have emerged as critical modulators, orchestrating complex signaling networks that contribute to both tumor suppression and promotion. This Special Issue aims to explore the intricate roles of cytokines in the remodeling of the TME and their impact on metastatic processes. As key communicators within the TME, cytokines mediate interactions between tumor cells and the surrounding stromal, immune, and endothelial cells, creating a dynamic landscape that can either inhibit or enhance cancer progression. Understanding these signaling pathways is essential for identifying new therapeutic targets and developing strategies to modulate the TME in favor of anti-tumor responses.

This Special Issue invites contributions that delve into the molecular mechanisms of cytokine signaling, their effects on the cellular and extracellular components of the TME, and the implications for tumor metastasis. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that offer insights into how cytokines drive TME remodeling, influence immune cell function, and contribute to the metastatic cascade. We hope this collection will provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of cytokine research in the context of the TME and inspire new avenues for therapeutic intervention.
