Inside the Cradle, Outside the Cradle”。

Inside and Outside the Cradle
Do you still remember the moment of your birth? In the serene harmony, you slept foot to foot with the world, marking the beginning of life. Just like a newborn gazing at its home or a traveler looking back at their homeland, we drift through the universe and rest upon the earth. In the cycles of growth, departure, and return, the cradle becomes a metaphor for belonging in a world of constant flux, embodying a sense of eternal homesickness.
“In our dreams, the house is always a great cradle,” Bachelard wrote, emphasizing the connection between space and memory. The cradle is not only the starting point of individual life but also an intersection of personal memories and poetic spaces. From this inception of life, artists construct vessels imbued with their essence. The cradle, as the earliest emotional experience and repository of memories, is delicately traced and collected, becoming a seed of self-interpretation and a fertile metaphor within their narratives. Eventually, it blossoms into a flourishing external form. In this space of nurturing, where the unknown coexists with a sense of power, the viewer follows the artist’s path of self-reconstruction, witnessing the dawn of new life in all its clarity.
As artists explore diverse media, the symbolic meaning of the cradle continues to expand. The relationship between the individual and the world turns and transforms through movement and friction, with life and death condensed into a continuous reflection. In response to postmodern deconstruction of binary oppositions, moments that transcend boundaries emerge. If the external world holds a soft tolerance, then within the eternal cocoon of life, there exists a shared breath for all things. Beyond the cradle, too, lies the cradle. In this broader sense, artists seek the threads connecting the individual to the environment, the past to the future, isolation to connection. They paint a portrait of life’s shared rhythms in a voice of recollection, expanding the possibilities within blurred boundaries of sleep and awakening. Here, the audience is invited to slumber in the vastness inside and outside the cradle, to taste dreams, and to find resonance with their own memories through different artistic expressions—until they open their eyes once again.
