November 2nd (GHC - Away)

After a month of no games, the girls resumed their SSSA league with a memorable opponent from the year before. With GHC being known for their aggression on court, the girls were wary, and this caused the tension on court to rise. The game was a sign that the rest of the season may not be as simple as they thought, urging them to practice their shooting and defensive plays. The game was extremely close the entire way through, but YKPS persisted, having executed their plays properly, leading them to have the dub.

November 9th (SUIS WY - Away)

Player of the Game: Jane Zhang
Another close game, YKPS is met with another tough opponent. With the other team playing aggressive, and even injuring some of the players, the girls persisted. The girls used the game to their advantage, making up the point-difference at the free throw line and having the POTG bank in 3s. All of them are in reflection and have used this game as a learning opportunity for their future games.

November 13th (KCIS - Away)

Going all the way to Suzhou, the girls found a Monday game tiring as it already is. KCIS had an early lead but under Coach Mel’s coaching, the players reflected and turned the game around. Leading by more and more, the girls catch the dub and pull the game further apart. However, this game is also a reflection of the improvement in executing strategies they must undergo.

November 14th (Jr NBA SASPD - Home)

Player of the Game: Jane Zhang
As this was the first game for the Jr. NBA league qualifiers, the girls were nervous and did not know what to expect. SASPD were a lot more aggressive than the SSSA league opponents, but YKPS met their energy and responded with a lead in points and excellent shooting from POTD Jane Zhang, and defensive tactics by the team. The dub led them to secure a spot in the Jr NBA league.

November 16th (Jr NBA SHSID - Away)

Player of the Game: Sophia Ip & Rena Mao
With their first loss of the academic year, the game was somewhat stress-free as the result did not impact the qualifiers. However, the game was used instead as a learning opportunity to execute plays properly, and to enhance team chemistry. The bench exceeded expectations and made the loss seem much more rewarding.

November 21st (SHSID - Away)

Player of the Game: Marissa Warren & Jane Zhang
Against their strongest opponent, YKPS persisted, trying to draw the point-gap closer.  Defensively, the girls performed well, however it still led them to a loss. It was a messy game, and the girls had trouble breaking the opponent’s press break, so this game was rewarding as it pointed out where the girls needed to improve on.

Upcoming Games:

SSSA

  • Monday 27th Nov. (UCS - Away)

  • Thursday 30th Nov. (GHC - Home)

Let’s wish the team the best of luck as they continue with their SSSA league and begin their new Jr NBA league.
