报告人简介

Dr. Xiaochuan Yu is a tenured associate professor at Boysie Bollinger School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, University of New Orleans (UNO). His research interests include 3D printing of maritime structural components and their corrosion studies, offshore renewable energy, AI’s application in naval architecture and offshore engineering, analysis and design of mooring systems, numerical simulations and experimental tests of dropped objects in offshore operations, risk assessment and hazard mitigation in offshore engineering, etc. etc. Dr. Yu earned his PhD degree in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2011, MS degree in Civil Engineering from University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) in 2008, MS & BS degree in Naval Architecture from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in 2004 & 2000. Additionally, he also obtained one more MS degree in Computer Science from UNO in 2023.

Dr. Yi Li is currently the chair of Department of Ocean Engineering, Guangdong Ocean University. He earned his PhD degree in Applied Science and Engineering from University of New Orleans in 2022. His research interests include: dropped objects and floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT).

报告简介

海上作业中坠物的运动模拟及危险性评估&3D打印在海洋工程中的应用

Firstly, Dr. Yu and Dr. Li will comprehensively introduce the results of UNO research team in dropped objects research, and further explore the application of these results in offshore oil and gas development. Secondly, Dr. Yu will focus on how 3D printing can help with the drop tests of various small-scale maritime structural models. Dr. Li will interpret the drop tests of 3D-printed container models and show how 3D printing can easily help implement such experimental tests at low cost. Thirdly, Dr. Yu will introduce the 3D printing of multiple small-scale ship propellers and the subsequent corrosion tests. Finally, Dr. Yu will provide an overview of past and ongoing JIPs in the offshore oil and gas and marine industries. In particular, the current development of industry guidelines or specifications for 3D-printed structures published by ABS and DNV will also be discussed.
