When I was a new PhD graduate long time ago, searching for postdoc positions, otherthan having interviews, I also received thoughtful responses from PIs even when there were no openings. Some replied “Your experience is great, but I have no funding,” or “I’m currently out of funding, but I’ll save your CV and share it with my colleagues. Good luck!” These kind words meant a lot to me. Now, as a PI, I strive to support junior researchers in the same way. While I may not be able to reply to every emails, I always aim to respond with warmth and encouragement , as i always remember those nice PIs who replied me in the same way :) Happy 2025!
