In addition to the grand graduation ceremonies in Manchester, the University of Manchester China Centre annually hosts an exclusive graduation event for graduates. On the afternoon of 21st December, the Class of 2024 came together at the China Centre for their graduation Party, inviting their families to enjoy the moment of successfully concluding their learning journey.
Smiles and embraces were the order of the day, reflecting the collective effort and commitment that defined their two-year studies.

In her warm welcome speech, Ms. Sherry Fu, director of UoM China Centre celebrated the university's bicentenary this year. A trailblazer in higher education, the University of Manchester has 26 Nobel Prize winners among its current and former staff and students, whose groundbreaking work has advanced fields such as Physics and Chemistry, Computer Science, New Materials and Economics.
With a significant global presence, the University of Manchester has secured the top spot in the UK and the second in the world in the 2024 University Impact Rankings. This achievement is a reflection of Manchester's commitment to social responsibility, which it has integrated into its core strategic planning, on par with its dedication to world-class research and exceptional student experiences.
This December, we are thrilled to see that 91% of our graduates are awarded as 1st and 2:1 degree. To congratulate them on their achievements, China Centre published a special commemorative issue on "Global People" magazine where many graduates also took this opportunity to be grateful to their Alma Mater and feel proud of themselves!
Mr. Matthew Whately and Mr. Junwei Ma, as student representatives, have built bridges for communication among students with their outstanding leadership and tireless efforts, enhancing the team's cohesion. In recognition of their contributions, the University of Manchester China Centre awarded them the "Student Service Award."
Mr. Xiaojun Zeng, a graduate of part-time master's programme, shared his learning journey of the past two years. Althought engaged in financial investment, he crossed over into the field of international fashion marketing, which expanded his knowledge system and enriched his life experience. Ms. Wendy Chen, a graduate of the Global MBA programme also shared her study experience. She was very grateful to the China Centre Student Support team for their encouragement and support, as well as her family members. She managed to balance her work, study and life, and successfully completed the programme and obtained the MBA degree within two years.
At the end of the Party, China Centre specially designed the Gift Exchange session allowing graduates to receive blessings while retaining sincere wishes from their classmates. Graduates also shared their learning experiences, highlighting the importance of persistence and adaptation ability to the challenges. These stories embody the concept of lifelong learning and continued academic pursuits at The University of Manchester.
At this moment of glory, let us toast to their growth and success, and to the friendships and memories they've made. As they journey forward, may they carry the spirit of the University of Manchester with them, striving ever onward to achieve further brilliance.
