Duties
Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD; undertake research and administrative duties in academic programmes and student activities.
Requirements
A PhD in Chinese Language and Literature, accompanied by a proven capability in conducting research and teaching within the realms of Chinese literature (preferably pre-Tang), as well as proficiency in Philology (Etymology, Phonology, and Text-based Semantics, etc.). Prospective candidates are expected to teach the following courses, namely “Chinese Philology”, “Classical Chinese”, “Selected Readings in Classical Chinese Essays”, and “Topics in Chinese Literature”, and to submit a sample course syllabus in “Chinese Philology” for review by the selection committee.
Preference will be given to candidates with pertinent teaching and/or professional experience, robust research and administrative skills, and a substantial track record of publications. It is imperative for successful candidates to be adept in both Chinese and English for instructional purposes and to commence duties promptly.
Candidates for Assistant Professor should have exhibited promise in impactful publications and grant acquisition.
Candidates for Associate Professor should have demonstrated a history of high-impact publications and grants, along with the ability/potential to develop a research field independently.
Candidates for Chair Professor and Professor are expected to showcase exceptional research/grant achievements and possess an international standing.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
