Digital Twins for Virtual-real Integration in Industrial Internet of Things

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) brings value-added services to traditional industries and has become an important technology support for industry 4.0 and 5.0. The core of the IIoT is to connect devices widely to realize the collection of massive data and then utilize some algorithms to conduct an in-depth analysis on the data to achieve broader value. The key to achieving this value of the IIoT is the abundant mapping and integration of the physical domain and digital domain.

Digital twins, which are defined as the virtual representation of a real-world entity or system, act as a mirror to provide a way to simulate, predict the physical behaviors, and possibly control the real-world entity where applicable. The combination of digital twins and the IIoT can promote the integration of the physical domain (real) and the digital domain (virtual), which becomes the key to implement the value of the IIoT.

Journal of Advanced Research的CAR指数
