In China, the legal drinking age is 18.

Under the Minors Protection Law of China, the legal drinking age is 18 years old, meaning it is illegal for individuals under 18 to purchase, possess, or consume alcoholic beverages.

The  rule also applies to smoking (including e-cigarettes) & gambling. Teenagers are not meant to enter any commercial  entertainment venue, bar, or internet bar until they turn 18.

Where it is difficult to determine whether a person is an adult, he/she shall be required to show his/her identity card.

The sale of cigarettes or alcohol to minors is prohibited, and business operators shall put up a sign of no sale of cigarettes or alcohol to minors at a prominent place.

Chinese law strictly prohibits parents or guardians from allowing minors to consume alcohol. Furthermore, it is illegal for businesses to sell alcohol to individuals below the legal drinking age. To ensure compliance, establishments are required to display signs indicating this restriction and request identification if they are unable to determine whether a person is of legal age.

Despite the legal drinking age being set at 18, instances of underage drinking do occur.

In China, alcohol can be easily found and purchased in various locations. From convenience stores and supermarkets to bars, clubs, and high-end hotels, there are numerous options available.

Convenience stores often have alcohol displayed alongside snack foods, making it convenient for customers to make their selections. When purchasing alcohol in China, you have the freedom to choose your preferred type and quantity.

Furthermore, there are no strict regulations regarding where and when you can consume alcohol in China. You have the flexibility to enjoy your drink of choice anywhere and at any time of the day.
