——秦东魁
Every time I see my mother finishing a meal in the kitchen, I take the initiative to serve the food. If I don’t, I feel ashamed. In the past, when my mother served me the food, I thought it was normal because I’m her son. But now, after studying theDisciples' Rules (Dizigui), I realize that it’s actually not normal. We’ve forgotten many of the original customs and rituals of being filial children, and we even think that our parents' sacrifices are just a given.
I hope that we, as friends and learners, will remember to serve our elders first whenever there is something good to eat at home. Nowadays, many people give their children rather than their parents.
