As the gentle midsummer breeze carried the subtle fragrance of mugwort, we celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival last weekend with a series of traditional Chinese cultural activities. Immersed in the cozy festive atmosphere, we enjoyed heartwarming and exciting moments together with our lovely students!Dragon Boat Festival culture workshopWe kicked off with an engaging Dragon Boat Festival cultural workshop, featuring activities such as cultural quizzes and explanations of traditional practices. Everyone participated enthusiastically, sharing insights into the festival's origins and customs. In a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, we discussed and learned together, deepening our understanding and appreciation of this traditional holiday.包粽子/bāo zòngzi - Make Rice DumplingsWith a shower of the bamboo leaves' faint scent wafting over us, we started making zongzi. Folding bamboo leaves, filling sticky rice, and wrapping them with colorful ropes - though each step is quite challenging, we patiently kept trying and then successfully made a great deal of nice zongzi. Each zongzi embodies our sincere blessings for each other and expectations for a better life.赛龙舟/sài lóngzhōu - Race Dragon Boats
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the thrilling dragon boat racing. The moment the starting signal rang out, two dragon boats swiftly surged forward, with paddlers unleashing powerful strokes in rhythm with pulsing beats set by drummers. We continuously cheered each other on and crossed the water with determination and teamwork. The competitive spirit is palpable, adding a different color to the festival. At the end of this wonderful day, we gathered for a traditional Suzhou meal, which definitely including the zongzi we made ourselves. Eating dinner after dragon boat racing makes the food even better!
We also made a video to record the wonderful moments:Thank you all for coming and making this Dragon Boat Festival super fun and meaningful :) We will see you next time!T: 021-62378028
