What a whirlwind of fun and learning! The first week of Silk Mandarin's Chinese Summer Camp Session 2 has come to an end, and it's been nothing short of amazing. Our campers have experienced a week packed with exciting activities, new friendships, and impressive progress in their Mandarin skills. Let's take a peek at the highlights of this unforgettable week!
🎉Day 1 - New Friends, New Adventures!
Day 1 marks the start of our second camp session, it was all about making new friends and diving headfirst into Mandarin classes both in Shanghai and Suzhou, setting the tone for an incredible week ahead.
In the afternoon, we got creative with lantern crafts, making beautiful and unique designs. The evening was spent settling in and taking care of personal chores.
🥋Day 2 - Kungfu Moves & Game Night Grooves
Day 2 of Camp 2 was packed with excitement and learning.
We started with Tai Chi fan exercises and breakfast to energize the campers for the day. Morning Mandarin classes continued, helping campers enhance their language skills.
In the afternoon, they practiced Chinese Kungfu, learning discipline and self-defense.
The day ended with fun and strategic board games, promoting teamwork and friendly competition.
🎒Day 3 - Discovering China's Hidden Gems
By day 3, our young explorers were uncovering the hidden gems of China with visits to the historic Old Town of Shanghai and the fascinating Suzhou Museum.
Children in Shanghai spent the morning touring the Old Town of Shanghai and learning about its rich history and culture. The children in Suzhou spent the afternoon exploring the West Wing of the well-stocked Suzhou Museum.
🥟Day 4 - Dumpling, Badminton & Insect hunting delights
Day 4 of Camp 2 was a mix of culinary arts, sport and nature exploration.
Campers in Shanghai had a fun dumpling-making session. Meanwhile, campers in Suzhou played badminton together!
The day concluded with an insect exploration activity, sparking curiosity and wonder.
🎨Day 5 - Make lacquer fans & Design Facial makeup for Chinese opera
Day 5 of Camp 2 was all about creativity and traditional arts.
Campers in Shanghai expressed their artistic talents through making beautiful, personalized lacquer fans. While campers in Suzhou experienced designing facial makeup for Chinese opera.
The evening activity was paper cutting, a traditional Chinese art form that allowed campers to showcase their creativity.
🚌Day 6&7 - Changzhou Dinosaur Park & Shanghai City Walk‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍
The weekend was packed with excitement! We kicked off with a thrilling day at Changzhou Dinosaur Park, enjoying a variety of fun programs. Next, we relaxed with a city walk in Shanghai, tasting local food, visiting landmarks like the Wukang Building, Nanjing Road, the Bund, and Lujiazui, and soaking in the beautiful scenery.
Throughout, campers practiced their Mandarin in real-life settings, enhancing their language skills while having a blast.
