“中国历代绘画大系”亮相英国,浙江宋韵文化交流活动在伦敦开幕

2022年是中英正式建交50周年。11月23日,由浙江省文化和旅游厅与浙江大学联合主办,欧盟亚洲中心承办、英国浙江联谊会暨商贸会协办的“笔墨著丹青·山水画诗意”中国历代绘画大系之宋画英国特展在伦敦亚洲之家开幕。


浙江省文化和旅游厅厅长褚子育通过视频致辞,英国博尔顿东北区议员Mark Logan、中国驻英国大使馆公使杨晓光、英国皇家艺术家协会主席Mick Davies、欧盟亚洲中心主席Piet Steel、英国浙江联谊会暨商贸会会长黄萍受邀出席,并为本次宋画特展揭幕。英国保守党伦敦西敏市骑士桥区和贝尔格莱维亚区长期议员,区政府首长Tony Devenish AM、中国驻英国大使馆文化处公使衔参赞李立言、英国国王副官黎美婵大英帝国官佐勋章等嘉宾也出席了开幕式。

“中国历代绘画大系”由浙江大学、浙江省文物局编纂出版,工作历经17年,至今收录了全球260余家文博机构的12405件(套)中国历代绘画精品佳作,涵盖了绝大部分传世的“国宝”级绘画珍品,是迄今藏品收录最全、规模最大的中国绘画图像文献集成。其中《宋画全集》更是被联合国教科文组织、美国国会图书馆、德国柏林国家图书馆、大英图书馆、法国国家图书馆等海外100多家机构收藏。

本次展览以思为脉、以美为媒,分享浙江文化艺术的魅力。展览包含“一卷宋画·一望千年”“百工之世·趣意笔墨”“五光之彩·四季曼妙”“水墨之诗·情寄山水”四大板块,约100余件宋画高清打样稿集中亮相,从笔底春风的水墨山水到包罗万象的宋代市井,从栩栩如生的鸟兽鱼虫到别具匠心的梅兰竹菊,丰富的作品将宋代的优雅精致鲜活地呈现在一幅幅画作之中。展览现场还融入了VR山水观影、精美宋服展示、宋式文化体验等互动区,将浙江独具宋韵文化的茶道、香道、花道、古琴等表演分享给到场的嘉宾。这是一场浙江宋韵文化与“中国历代绘画大系”《宋画全集》的精彩融合。

浙江省文化和旅游厅厅长褚子育在致辞中说道:艺术是世界共通的语言,“以心灵映射万象,代山川而立言”,浙江的旖旎美景与热情友好如传世画作,将始终向世界优雅呈现。

中国驻英国大使馆公使杨晓光在开幕式致辞中表示,“中国历代绘画大系”工程将数字化资源变成图书、展览,让民众都能近距离观赏体验,赋予了这些中国文化瑰宝新的生命。此次展览为英国民众进一步了解中国传统文化精髓提供了千载难逢的机会。

英国皇家艺术家协会主席Mick Davies在开幕致辞中表示,宋代是古代中国美学、文学、哲学和科学的高峰,并且宋代的文化精神依然是浙江文化生活中不可分割的部分,浙江的美丽与魅力吸引着世界各地的人们。

英国博尔顿东北区议员Mark Logan出席特展开幕式并致辞,他表示自己与中国着有深厚的渊源,曾多次到访中国。中国博大精深的文化,尤其是宋代艺术更是令人难忘,他衷心希望通过这次“中国历代绘画大系”来到英国的契机,让双方的友谊更上一个台阶。

英国浙江会会长黄萍在致辞中表示,很荣幸能有这个机会分享自己对家乡浙江的热爱。浙江千百年来一直是中华文明的中心,从5万年前的旧石器时代,原始人类“建德人”首次定居,到吴越文化、江南文化,浙江堪称中华古文明的发祥地,这种文明在宋代达到了令人难以置信的人文高度。这次特展让技术、纹理和色彩的永恒之美成为我们所有人的灵感之源,在浙江和英国之间架起当代文化和经济的桥梁。

一同出席当天开幕式的嘉宾还包括英国皇家艺术学院维多利亚博物馆与设计历史系主任Dr Sarah Cheang,伦敦大学国王学院艺术与人文学院人文学科主任、数字文化遗产教授Professor Simon Tanner,伦敦艺术大学收藏与策展专业系主任Dr David Dibosa,伦敦大学国王学院数字人文系讲师Dr Kristen Schuster,伦敦艺术大学收藏与策展专业高级讲师Lynton Talbot,郎朗基金会董事会成员Amy Mei Yin Lam Poon,全英华人教授协会主席、Brunel大学副校长赵华教授,旅英画家张怀存、李芒等知名学者。特展还吸引了大量媒体平台的关注,英国金融时报、欧洲时报、中央广播电视总台欧洲总站、新华社、人民日报、CHINA DAILY欧洲版等媒体嘉宾参加开幕式并进行了现场采访。

开幕式后,现场嘉宾随导览员一同观展,传世的画作在专业而生动的讲解下,引发人们一次又一次地赞叹。现场观众纷纷表示,虽然宋画与西方绘画完全不同,但其中的艺术价值与人文精神却是相通的,他们非常期待有机会来到浙江旅游,亲身感受这里的美景与文化,体验鲜活的宋韵魅力。


A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings debuts in the UK,

“A Moment in the Song”, a Cultural Activity of Zhejiang showcases in London


The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and the UK. “A MOMENT IN THE SONG”, an exhibition on China’s Song Dynasty paintings in the UK, organized by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Zhejiang University, and supported by Europe-Asia Centre and Zhejiang UK Association, was launched at Asia House, London on 23rd November. Chu Ziyu, Director General of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, delivered a speech online. Mark Logan, British Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Private Secretary, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Mick Davies PRBA, Chairman of the Royal Society of British Artists, Ambassador Piet Steel, Chairman of Europe-Asia Center and Ping Huang FRSA, President of the Zhejiang UK Association were invited to the opening ceremony and unveiled the exhibition. Present at the ceremony were Tony Devenish AM, GLA Member for West Central Councillor for Knightsbridge & Belgravia Ward, Li Liyan, Minister-Counselor of Culture Office in the Chinese Embassy in the UK and Ms. Mei Sim Lai OBE DL, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Brent since 2007.



In four sections: “A Scroll of Song Painting · a History of Thousands of Years”, “Diversified Paintings · Fascinating Brushwork”, “Multicolored World · Wonderful Seasons”, “Poetry of Ink and Wash · Abandon Ourselves to Nature” following the thread of thought and the medium of beauty, the exhibition shares the charm of Zhejiang culture and art in over 100 high-definition prints of Song paintings, depicting the elegant and vibrant life of the Song Dynasty in the landscape of ink and water, civil culture, lifelike birds, animals, fish and insects, unique plum, orchids, bamboo and chrysanthemums. Meanwhile, the exhibition features the unique Song tea ceremony, incense art, flower arranging and guqin performance to the guests present in some interactive zones, such as VR film, exquisite Song-style costume display and cultural experience. This is a superb fusion of the Song culture and A Collection of Song Dynasty Paintings in A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings.  



Chu Ziyu, Director General of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, expressed in his speech that art is the common language of the world, which “reflects everything by depicting the inner world and landscapes”. The beautiful scenery and enthusiasm of Zhejiang, just like paintings handed down from generation to generation, will always be presented to the world in the most graceful way.



In his opening remark, H.E. Yang Xiaoguang, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, said that A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings has transformed digital resources into books and exhibitions and invigorated Chinese cultural treasures, so it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the British people to view, to experience, and to get closer to the essence of traditional Chinese culture.



Mick Davies PRBA, Chairman of the Royal Society of British Artists, stated in his opening remark that the Song Dynasty was recognized as the peak of Chinese aesthetics, literature, philosophy and science, and that the cultural heritage of the Song Dynasty is still an inseparable part of Zhejiang’s cultural life. The beautiful scenery and eternal charm of Zhejiang still fascinates and attracts citizens as well as people from all over the world.



Mark Logan, British Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Private Secretary, was present at the opening ceremony and said in his speech that he personally feels attached to China and had paid several visits to China. He is fascinated by the profound and extensive culture of China, especially the art of the Song Dynasty. He expressed his hope that A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings in the UK would help enhance the friendship between the two countries.



Ping Huang, President of Zhejiang UK Association said, Zhejiang truly can be named the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization, from 50,000 years ago in the Paleolithic Age, when the primitive human "Jiande people" were first settled in the province to the Liangzhu culture and Wuyue culture. It has reached incredible humanistic height during the Song Dynasty.



Present at the ceremony also included Dr. Sarah Cheang, Head of Programme, V&A/RCA History of Design MA, Royal Academy of Arts, Simon Tanner, Professor of Digital Cultural Heritage, Head of Humanities, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, King’s College London, Dr. David Dibosa, Course Leader for MA Curating and Collections at Chelsea College of Arts at University of the Arts, London, Dr Kristen Schuster, Lecturer in Digital Curation, King’s College London, Lynton Talbot, MA Curating and Collections Senior Lecturer at Chelsea College of Arts, King’s College London, Amy Mei Yin Lam Poon, Board Director of Lang Lang International Music Foundation, Professor Zhao Hua,President of Association of British Chinese Professors, UK-based painter Zhang Huaicun and Li Mang. The exhibition also attracted a large number of media. The journalists of Nouvelles D’Europe, Financial Times, CMG Europe, Xinhua News,People’s Daily and China Daily Europe were present at the opening ceremony and conducted interviews live.



After the opening ceremony, the guests visited the exhibition and were amazed at the exhibition with the professional and vivid interpretation of the docent. They said that the Song paintings and western art share much in artistic value and humanistic spirit though they are quite different. They are looking forward to the opportunity to visit Zhejiang and experience its beauty and culture and the charm of the Song.
