Kyrö Sauna Bar is the newest spatial brand experience by Kyrö Distillery, located right in the center of Helsinki. True to its name, the venue combines a whisky-focused cocktail bar with a traditional Finnish sauna.

The bar and the sauna’s changing rooms are situated on the ground floor of a large commercial building. The sauna itself, however, is a prefabricated wooden structure, transported to its location in the building’s inner courtyard through a narrow and low passageway. The design of the sauna and bar was handled by Studio Puisto, an architecture firm specializing in hospitality projects, with construction by Protos Demos. Previously, Studio Puisto has designed several sauna restaurants across Finland. Kyrö Sauna Bar is a pop-up venue open until the end of 2024.

设计的核心主题包括：奥斯特罗博特尼亚的文化遗产、传统的芬兰桑拿，以及 Kyrö 产品的主要成分——黑麦。这些主题与场所的临时性质通过材料选择和空间内温馨的谷仓式氛围得以体现。
Key themes of the design include Ostrobothnian heritage, traditional Finnish saunas, and rye—the main ingredient in Kyrö’s products. These themes, along with the temporary nature of the venue, are reflected in the choice of materials and the cozy, barn-like atmosphere of the space.

场地被划分为三个主题区域。进入场地后，宾客首先来到名为 Kyrö 谷仓的空间，内部为灯光昏暗的谷仓式房间，以粗糙的木板建造而成。这些房间适合举办私人活动，通过低矮狭窄的窗户可有限地看到步行街的熙攘景象。隐秘而幽静的氛围让人联想到奥斯特罗博特尼亚地区的谷仓。
The venue is divided into three thematic areas. Upon entering from the street, guests arrive in a space called Kyrö’s Barns, featuring dimly lit, barn-like rooms built from rough wooden planks. These rooms are suitable for private events and offer limited views of the bustling pedestrian street through low, narrow windows. The intimate and secluded ambiance evokes the granaries of Ostrobothnia.

从谷仓走出，宾客来到 Kyrö 庭院，这里设有一张由木板制成的大型公共长凳，以及由回收混凝土块打造的吧台。
From the barns, guests ascend to Kyrö’s Yard, which features a large communal bench made of planks and a bar counter constructed from recycled concrete blocks.

接近桑拿时，宾客会穿过名为桶仓库的走廊，走廊里放置了从酿酒厂回收的旧威士忌桶，改造成站立式桌子。走廊尽头是桑拿的更衣室和洗手间设施。
Approaching the sauna, visitors pass through a corridor called the Barrel Warehouse, where old whisky barrels from the distillery have been repurposed as standing tables. At the end of the corridor are the sauna’s changing rooms and restroom facilities.

桑拿本体距离庭院入口仅几步之遥，其设计捕捉了传统芬兰桑拿的精髓，也为其未来成为乡村永久设施做了铺垫。桑拿通过低矮狭窄的窗户、深色天然材料、极简照明和传统的木制栅格地板，营造出一种私密而宁静的氛围。尽管桑拿面积仅有18平方米，但可容纳14名桑拿浴客，同时还有额外空间供十多名客人在桑拿间隙凉快休息。洗浴方式遵循传统：将水倒入盆中，客人用勺子舀水清洗身体，这种方式芬兰人已经沿袭了几个世纪。
The sauna itself is just a few steps away from the courtyard entrance. Its design captures the essence of a traditional Finnish sauna, fitting for its future as a more permanent fixture in a rural setting. The sauna’s intimate and calming atmosphere is created with low, narrow windows, dark natural materials, minimalist lighting, and a traditional wooden slatted floor. Despite its modest size of 18 square meters, the sauna can accommodate 14 bathers, with room for an additional dozen guests to cool off outside between sauna sessions. Washing is done in the traditional manner: water is poured into a basin, and guests use a ladle to wash themselves—just as Finns have done for centuries.
As a temporary pop-up project, sustainability and material reuse were prioritized. The contractor, Protos Demos, fully embraced the challenge, sourcing materials such as exhibition wall panels and surplus concrete blocks from construction sites. The design also considered the disassembly and reusability of components. After the pop-up period ends, the modular sauna will continue its story at Kyrö Distillery’s visitor center in Isokyrö, serving both festival-goers and tourists.

Kyrö Sauna Bar 每周三至周六在赫尔辛基Keskuskatu 6开放。最后一场桑拿将在除夕夜举行，之后这一概念将迈向新的旅程。
Kyrö Sauna Bar is open Wednesday through Saturday every week at Keskuskatu 6, Helsinki. The final sauna session will take place on New Year’s Eve, after which the concept will move on to new horizons.
