MIS is a community of exploration and openness, using open teaching methods and prioritizing the development of students' abilities. With the IB mindset, MIS students are knowledgeable and well-versed in communication and self-reflection, placing importance on their character development along with their academic pursuits. They approach learning with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry, following social etiquette and possessing the ability to collaborate with others. MIS students maintain individualized development in their learning processes, exploring the essence of things, reasoning, and substantiating arguments, and deepening their knowledge through various forms of discovery, investigation, and research methods. They apply their academic knowledge to practical situations; MIS students' learning process is a self-exploration and self-actualization process.

How do MISers learn and live?

Let's take a look at the highlights of last week.

Academic Course Review

1

G1: IB Library Class

In this library course, our students engaged in independent reading of various picture books or listened to the teacher’s storytelling of Daisuke Miyamoto’s The Dinosaur Series, enjoying a fun and enriching learning experience. These picture books, both engaging and entertaining, are loved by the students, and they, containing many important educational values, also help children learn excellent qualities while having fun reading.

G2: IB Dance Class

In the dance classes over the past few weeks, the students of G2 have made significant progress, which fills me with immense joy. Although the dance rhythms that are complex and irregular pose a challenge to the students, their physical coordination and movement memory have improved remarkably. While the children may encounter some difficulties in mastering the rhythms, I firmly believe that with consistent practice, they will make even greater strides.

G3: IB UOI Class

In the past few weeks of the UOI curriculum, we have led our students on a journey to explore where we have come from with a review of places that we originally lived in. We began by introducing the different concepts of rural and urban areas, ensuring that students could identify the type of region they currently live in and expand their understanding of the possible lifestyles based on different places of residence. Subsequently, the students turned their attention to the area they live in now, which led them to emphasize city living.

We were dedicated to reviewing the knowledge acquired throughout the semester in preparation for the mid-terms. For the Lion class, the students were initially a bit shy, mainly due to their lack of experience with dialogues in French. However, as the repetition and practice continued, they gained more confidence and ease. It’s truly rewarding to see their progress, and we have witnessed very encouraging results. Some students have even started taking the initiative and speaking more fluidly.

As for the Eagles, they approached this task with great seriousness and commitment. They prepared diligently for the oral evaluation, rehearsed with enthusiasm and strove to improve their performance. Their motivation and discipline paid off, and we saw several students shine during the practice sessions, especially with their ability to structure their dialogues well and speak clearly in French. These achievements are truly impressive and promising for the upcoming exams.

G5: IB PE Class

Our G5 students had their mid-term PE assessment, a crucial moment to assess their athletic skills and physical fitness. During this assessment, students were challenged with a series of tasks designed to demonstrate their proficiency in specific sports, including skills such as juggling a pickleball serving and receiving, as well as dribbling a ball (soccer). The assessment of these skills not only tested their technical accuracy but also involved their speed, endurance, and Body Mass Index (BMI), which are key indicators of a student's overall physical performance.

G6: Art Class

In art class for G6, our students embarked on a unique creative journey to explore the theme of "Animal Alter Ego Self-Portrait Sculpture." We began with a brainstorming session where students chose an animal that represented their personality. This choice not only sparked their imagination but also allowed them to delve deeper into their inner world.

G7: Natural Science-Physics Class

Recently, our mechanics course has achieved significant results. The course covered core knowledge points such as the basic properties of mechanics, and the close relationship between force and motion. Throughout this process, the students have shown great enthusiasm and participation in learning. They not only actively thought but also combined theoretical knowledge with phenomena in daily life so as to propose many vivid examples to support and verify the learned theories.

G8: PE / Dance Class

In G8 PE class, our students had their mid-term assessment, which included a range of assessments designed to evaluate their physical condition, such as height, weight, lung capacity, sit-and-reach, one-minute rope skipping, 50-meter dash, 50-meter shuttle run, and one-minute sit-ups. These tests were not only fun and challenging but also helped students to fully understand their physical fitness situations.

The G8 students not only have a solid foundation in dance but are also passionate about it. At this age, they begin to show preferences for specific dance styles. Therefore, in their dance classes, we share some selected dance segments for them to actively experience and feel.

Principal Speech by Ms. Hermione

Knowledge is a process of accumulation. Maintaining your passion and spirit of exploration for learning is more important than acquiring knowledge itself. The exploration of knowledge is a lifelong journey. The significance of the overall assessments lies in filling in the gaps and understanding your shortcomings at a particular stage. I believed that as long as you have made the necessary preparations, you would be more confident in your future learning. I hoped that through this overall assessment, you would not only demonstrate your mastery of knowledge but also your enthusiasm for learning and your desire for exploration.

In exams, integrity means following the rules, not cheating, not plagiarizing, and genuinely presenting your learning outcomes. This is not only a respect for knowledge but also a respect for your efforts. Adhering to integrity would shape your character, allowing you to take pride in your honesty and earn the respect and trust of others in your future studies and life.

May you gain not only an increase in knowledge but also growth and progress through this overall assessment. I hoped that you would all work hard together and embrace the challenge with integrity and enthusiasm! Please believe that no matter the outcomes, all teachers would offer you encouragement and affirmation. We would also work together to address any shortcomings and look forward to your successful exams!

MIS Student Psychological Development Course

Dates: November 4th - November 8th

The MIS Psychological Development Course is dedicated to helping students establish a healthy psychological state and social skills. These courses aim to cultivate students' empathy, self-awareness, and emotional management abilities, providing them with a supportive and encouraging environment for growth.

In G1-G3, we used the psychological projection tool - the tree drawing test to help us understand the students' inner world and their perception of the environment.

In G4 and G5, we conducted assessments using the QIUS(QTS) and the SASC. The scores from these scales helped us identify potential difficulties students may encounter in social interactions and provided corresponding support and intervention.

In the G6 psychological development course, we focused on cultivating students' ability to make responsible decisions when facing choices.

In the G7 course, we used the QIUS(QTS) assessment tool and focused on helping students establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.

In the G8 course, we used the QIUS(QTS) assessment tool and focused on students' sleep hygiene and quality.
