Surface coating这个功能可以在模型的一个或多个面上应用指定材料和厚度的表面涂层(外壳层)和用于网格细化。
This feature enables you to apply a surface coating (shell layer) of a specified material and thickness over one or more faces of your model. This feature is beneficial when you want to include the ability to accurately evaluatesurface stresses or to overlay your structure with thin parts, such as modelling Thermal Barrier Coatings or sheet metal over support structures. To accurately model this type of application, Mechanical enables you to specify the thickness, stiffness behavior, coordinate system, and material.

Surface coating的Stiffness Behavior里有三种类型:Stress Evaluation Only(用于网格细化),Membrane Only,Membrane and Bending。

Stress Evaluation Only(default): Use this option to evaluate stresses and strains on the exterior surface(s). Elements do not provide any stiffness contribution to the model.

Membrane Only: Elements have membrane stiffness only.

Membrane/Bending: Elements have membrane and bending stiffness.

Surface Coating使用过程中有以下注意事项:

1、Surface Coating只能施加在三维实体的表面,不能施加在壳体表面;

2、只适用于3D模型;

3、只支持在使用APDL 求解器的计算环境下,包括:Static Structural Analysis, Transient Structural Analysis, Transient Structural Analysis Using Linked Modal Analysis System, and Linear Dynamic Analysis。其他的求解环境不适用;
4、Surface coating 的网格阶次与本体的几何网格阶次一致。如零件的网格为线性单元,那么在该零件上添加surface coating的网格也同样为线性单元,无法手动更改。
