The Yichang Art Museum project is located in the heart of the Xiling Riverbank. CHAP, in collaboration with THUPDI, successfully won the bid with a unique design concept, officially embarking on the design and construction journey of this landmark cultural project. This museum will not only serve as a space for displaying art but also as a cultural bridge connecting nature, humanity, and the future.

A Building, A Story, The Soul of a City
项目依托宜昌独特的地理优势，结合西陵江畔的自然风貌，创造出与城市、山川、江水和谐共存的文化空间。在设计过程中，CHAP团队致力于将城市与自然进行有机融合，以“自然景观，开合有致”为规划理念，赋予建筑本身生命力。我们希望让这座美术馆成为展示艺术、交流文化的窗口，同时也是市民与游客感受自然之美、体验艺术创作的理想场所。
Leveraging Yichang’s unique geographical advantages and integrating the natural landscape along the Xiling River, the project creates a cultural space that harmoniously coexists with the city, mountains, and waters. Throughout the design process, the CHAP team has focused on organically blending the city and nature. With the planning concept of "natural landscape, flowing transitions," the architecture is imbued with vitality. Our vision is for this museum to serve as a window for showcasing art and facilitating cultural exchanges, while also being an ideal space for citizens and visitors to experience the beauty of nature and engage in artistic creation.

The Yichang Art Museum is more than just a building; it embodies the spirit and culture of the city. Centered around the theme of "the convergence of nature and city, the fusion of culture and tourism," the project’s clever spatial layout gives the venue rich cultural significance and artistic charm.
在建筑形态上，我们将自然景观与建筑空间无缝对接，形成连续的视觉美感。通过大面积的玻璃幕墙与开放式平台，参观者可以从各个角度领略西江两岸的美景。美术馆的设计不仅重视其内部的功能性与体验性，同时也为公众提供了一个观江望山的文化休闲空间，成为城市生活与自然生态的交融之地。
In terms of architectural form, we have seamlessly integrated the natural landscape with the museum space, creating a continuous visual flow. With expansive glass facades and open platforms, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Xiling River’s scenic beauty from every angle. The design of the museum not only emphasizes its internal functionality and user experience but also provides a cultural leisure space where people can appreciate both the river and the mountains, blending urban life with natural ecology.

我们在项目设计中始终秉持“创新与生态共生”的原则，力求为宜昌市创造一个可持续发展的文化新地标。我们精心处理建筑与周边环境的关系，确保美术馆的每一个细节都能与自然景观和谐相处。项目的场地南端靠近江水，北端延伸至城市中心，我们借助地势的高低变化，塑造出独具层次感的空间体验，满足不同游客的需求。
Throughout the design process, we have adhered to the principle of "innovation and ecological symbiosis," aiming to create a sustainable cultural landmark for Yichang. We have carefully managed the relationship between the building and its surrounding environment, ensuring that every detail of the museum harmonizes with the natural landscape. With the site extending from the river to the city center, the varied terrain has been skillfully utilized to create a layered spatial experience that caters to diverse visitor needs.
宜昌美术馆的设计，不仅是一次建筑艺术的呈现，更是宜昌市文化发展的新起点。作为这座城市的文化新地标，美术馆将在未来承载更多的艺术展览、文化交流与市民活动，成为宜昌文化生活的核心枢纽。项目融合了现代艺术与自然景观，充分利用西陵江畔的优越地理条件，形成了一处人与自然、历史与艺术相互交织的公共文化空间。
The design of Yichang Art Museum is not just an architectural presentation but a new beginning for the cultural development of Yichang. As a cultural landmark of the city, the museum will host more art exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and public activities, becoming the core of Yichang’s cultural life. The project merges modern art with natural landscapes, fully utilizing the exceptional geographical conditions along the Xiling River to create a public cultural space where nature, history, and art intertwine.
