The Longtaitou Festival , also known as the Eryueer Festival and the Blue Dragon Festival is celebrated on the second day of the second Chinese lunar month .
每年农历二月二这一天被称作龙抬头二月二或青龙节．

 The Legend of Longtaitou Festival

Legend has it that one year a drought struck the land and people were starving to death .
传说有一年天下大旱，饿死了许多人。
A Blue Dragon , having compassion for people , gave them some rain without permission .
一条青龙不愿意看到百姓受灾挨饿，未经玉帝允许，偷偷给人间降雨。
To punish the Blue Dragon , the Jade Emperor imprisoned it in a mountain and said he would never release it unless golden beans bloomed .为了惩罚青龙，玉帝把青龙压在一座大山下并颁下圣旨，除非金豆开花，否则它永远别想出来。

However ,clever people found that soybeans and corn kernels were golden and more importantly , they could bloom when roasted .
然而，聪明的人们发现大豆和玉米粒都是金色的，而且炒的时候会爆开花。
So the people worshipped Jade Emperor with bloomed soybeans and corn kernels on the yard 
于是人们在院子里用炒开花的大豆和玉米祭奠玉帝。
Not to break his promise , the Jade Emperor ordered to release the Blue Dragon on the second day of the second Chinese lunar month 

玉帝不能违背诺言，下令在农历二月二释放青龙。
Therefore , that day became the time when people celebrate the release of the Blue Dragon with roast beans .
所以这一天变成了人们用玉米花来庆祝玉帝释放青龙的节日。
From February 2nd, food is more abundant in China .从二月二起，食物开始变得丰富。Delicious food left over from the New Year period will be taken out .
人们会拿出庆祝新年剩下的美味。

Once this has been eaten , people prepare new dishes based on the elements of this day .

The title of " dragon " is also added to a number of foods eaten on this day to make them more auspicious .

For example ,eating dumplings is called " eating dragon ear " or " Long Er " in Chinese , spring rolls are known as " dragon scale " or " Long Lin ", noodles are called " dragon whisk "" Long Xu Mian ", wontons are " dragon teeth " or " Long Ya ", popcorn is named " dragon seeds " or " Long zi ".
