Guiyang arrival.

Today is arrival day. You may take any flight convenient to arrive before 11:30 am. We'll gather at the airport to meet our local guide & drive to the hiking trail point (2.5hrs)

After reaching the point, let's take a chill hike (1hr) to Fengxiang village of Gejia minority. Locals here are best at batik making, we'll have the chance to visit a local family & learn to make our own batik piece. 

Then take a short ride to a Miao village & join a local family to celebrate Chinese New Year. Let's help prepare the New Year dinner. Enjoy watching fireworks afterward.

Kaili

After breakfast, we'll take a 1.5-hour drive to today's hiking trail starting point. Let's hike to visit a Miao village built on top of the rice terraces (1hr)

Lunch break. Chill and enjoy the view. Then, a 3-hour hike through virgin forest, rice terraces,... Fully emerged in nature, hike along a crystal green river with 300-1000-year-old trees on both sides, and a cloud sea over the deep valleys (if weather's nice).

Drive 1.5 hours back to Kaili in the afternoon

Kaili > Rongjiang

Today let's visit another minority ethnic village - Shui. After a 2.5-hour drive, we'll reach the place & have lunch at a local family.

The Shui ethnic minority is descended from the Baiyue ethnic group in ancient times. They are famous for developing their own Shui script - distinctive embryonic characters, which is the generic term for ancient characters and books of the Shui minority.

Shui scripts are symbols that resemble oracle bone inscriptions, recording ancient cultural information such as astronomy, folklore, ethnicity, philosophy, aesthetics, law of the Shui minority, and so on. Thus it is acclaimed as the 'living fossil' of pictographic characters! 

Here, experience learning how to write the Shui Characters. 

After that, we'll hike 2.5 hours to a Miao village and drive all the way to Rongjiang.

Rongjiang

After breakfast time, take a 1.5-hour drive to Zengchong Village of Dong people. Here we'll visit the oldest drum tower built by their ancestors 600 years ago. 

Then drive to a Miao Village & enjoy local festival celebration including ancestor worship, traditional singing, and dancing etc. 

Drive back to Rongjiang & spend the night here.

Rongjiang/Liping

Get breakfast & prepare your stuff for today's adventure. We'll drive to reach the hiking trail. Start our hike (3hrs) to Jiaxi Village. Let's have a picnic lunch, enjoy the amazing view of rice terraces and the valley.

After that, we'll take another 2-hour drive to a beautiful Dong Village and check in the guesthouse. Enjoy a Grand Chorus Party - called Eastern Acappella by westerners with locals at the drum tower after dinner. 

The Dong are originated from East Coast China and migrated to Guizhou due to a war 2000 years ago. They are famous for signing, especially the Grand Chorus.

They're also one of the best carpenters in China. Until this day they still build their houses, bridges, and drum towers by tenon and mortise. Drum Tower, Flower bridge, and Grand Chorus are Dong minority's top 3 treasures. You will have the opportunity to see their “Shiny Cloth” made from the egg white.

Liping/Congjiang

Today let's enjoy your free time in this 800-year-old Dong village to explore locals’ traditional lifestyles in the morning. 

In the afternoon, drive 2.5 hours to a Miao village of Red Miao people & participate in their Lusheng Festival celebration.

Guiyang departure

Today, we will be transferred to Guaiyang airport and you can take any flight convenient (ideally after 2pm) from Guiyang back to Shanghai.

Cancellation fee

- Between booking and 15 days prior to departure: 300rmb 

- Between 15 and 5 days prior to departure: 2000rmb

- Between 4 and 1 days prior to departure: 50% of the price

- On departure day or no-show: 100% of the price

Cancellation Policy // corona virus

If the weather is really bad and represents a risk for people's safety, or there is any government restriction (due to coronavirus for example) we could cancel the trip up to 1 day in advance. The deposit would be fully refunded. Note that we are NOT responsible for flight cancellation fees. This would need to be dealt with the airline company directly. 

All forms of outdoor recreation (including hiking) have a higher level of risk than most ordinary activities.

By participating in M2adventure's hike, you acknowledge and accept the responsibility for making your own determinations as to the suitability of the activity and for their own safety, conduct, and well-being and agrees to participate solely at your own risk.
