智能界面科学与工程(SISE)是一个跨学科领域,致力于界面现象的科学探索和功能界面的创新设计。其研究涉及对界面现象基本原理从原子和分子到宏观层面的多尺度研究,以及基于这些机理性的理解,开发具有特定性能的先进界面材料、结构和系统,并应用于各个领域。其应用领域包括但不限于智能机器人、可穿戴设备、先进制造和能源工程等诸多需要界面控制与优化的场景。总体而言,智能界面科学与工程旨在优化材料界面的相互作用,以提升各个科学和工程领域的界面系统的功能性和适应性。


本特刊旨在汇集智能界面科学与工程领域的最新研究进展,并探讨该领域的关键挑战及未来发展方向。我们诚邀相关领域的原创性研究及综述投稿,探索这一充满前景的领域的新兴方向。感兴趣的主题包括但不限于:


  • Materials, surface morphology, mechanics and physics of contact/adhesion/friction/sealing

  • Smart skins (robotic sensing, human-machine interactions, drug reduction)

  • Smart coatings, packing materials, and mechanisms of attachment and detachment

  • Advanced armors and structures for anti-puncture and anti-impacting

  • Transfer printing, mass transfer and heterogeneous integration

  • Advanced thermal/biomedical/electronic interfaces

  • Wetting, antifouling, anti-icing and de-icing

Dr. Giuseppe Carbone

Dr. Giuseppe Carbone received the MSc Mechanical Engineering Degree in February 1998 and in February 2002 the Ph. D. degree in Advanced Production Systems at Politecnico di Bari (Italy). He is currently a Full Professor of Applied Mechanics, Head of the Department of Mechanics Mathematics and Management at Politecnico di Bari (Italy), and President of the Italian Tribology Association. He founded the Tribology Lab at Polytechnic University of Bari in 2010. He has been a Visiting Scientist at the Juelich Research Center (Germany) and at the Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), Academic Visitor at the Imperial College London, and Visiting Scholar at University of North Texas. He is Research Associate at the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies of the National Council of Research - Italy. His scientific interests focus mainly on tribology, contact mechanics, viscoelastic materials, adhesion, biomimetics, mechanical transmissions, mechanical vibrations, system dynamics, soft robotics grips, swarm intelligence and complex systems. His research has been funded from Italy National and European programs and private companies with more than €14 million. He serves as Associate Editor of Chaos Solitons and Fractals. He is member of the Editorial Board of Tribology International. His H-index is 41 (source: Scopus). He authored about 300 publications, of which about 165 in archive journals indexed in Scopus.

Dr. Jizhou Song

Qiushi Professor of Zhejiang University

Dr. Jizhou Song is the Qiushi Distinguished Professor of Department of Engineering Mechanics at Zhejiang University. He is a Fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). His research focuses on tunable adhesive for advanced transfer printing and mechanics of stretchable electronics with applications in human-machine interface. He has published over 170 peer-reviewed journal papers in renowned international journals such as PNAS, Science Advances, National Science Review, JMPS, and AM. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the China National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Qiushi Outstanding Young Scholar Award from the Qiushi Foundation, the Youth Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, etc. He is currently the Chair of the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Director of the Institute of Applied Mechanics at Zhejiang University. He served as an associate editor for the Journal of Applied Mechanics and an editorial board member for various journals including npj Flexible Electronics, International Journal of Applied Mechanics, etc.

Dr. Nicola Menga

Dr. Nicola Menga is an Associate Professor of Applied Mechanics in the Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management at Politecnico di Bari. His research interests mainly focus on tribology and interfacial phenomena, mostly aiming at controlling friction and adhesion in real systems (e.g., tires, micro/macro grippers, tapes, etc.). Key topics include the modelling of elastic/viscoelastic frictional contacts of real interfaces in sliding/static condition in the presence of adhesion; the study of the detachment behaviour (i.e., peeling) between elastic/viscoelastic tapes adhering on deformable substrate; and the effect of roughness on surface wettability. He is also interested in friction-related nonlinear dynamics of multi-DoF systems. Currently, he has authored over 50 publications with over 30 in archive journals indexed in Scopus, such as Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, International Journal of Solids and Structures, Extreme Mechanics Letters, Nonlinear Dynamics, Materials & Design. He also serves as reviewers for numerous international journals including International Journal of Solids and Structures, Meccanica, Tribology Letter, Journal of Marine Science and Engineering, and so on.

Dr. Changhong LINGHU

Dr. Changhong LINGHU is a Research Fellow in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He is dedicated to the design, fabrication, integration, and application of smart adhesive systems in various fields  utilizing advanced structures and intelligent materials. His interdisciplinary research bridges the fields of materials, mechanics, robotics, biotechnology, and engineering. He has published 24 SCI papers, with 3 ESI highly cited ones, in prestigious journals such as Nat. Commun., Natl. Sci. Rev., Sci. Adv., PNAS, npj Flex. Electron., and JMPS. His research has been highlighted by leading media outlets, including EurekAlert, the Independent Singapore, Mirage News, and Xinhua News Agency. Furthermore, his contributions have been recognized by numerous awards, including the Research Excellence Award from NTU, the Distinguished Young Postgraduate Scholar Award in Metamaterials at the 2nd CN Metamaterials Conference, among others. Currently, he is serving as reviewers for multiple international journals such as Sci. Adv., Nat. Sci. Rev., Extreme Mech. Lett., Theor. App. Mech. Lett., Adv. Intell. Syst..

Dr. Dong Li

Research Fellow

Dr. Dong Li is a Research Fellow of School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. He has consistently devoted his expertise to the research in mechanics of advanced materials and structures, including mechanics of thin films, mechanics of functional fibers, and fracture mechanics of two-dimensional materials, leveraging tools of theoretical modeling and multiscale simulations. He has published 17 SCI research papers in high-impact journals such as Nature, Nature Communications, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), among others. He also serves as reviewers for an array of top-tier journals in related disciplines including Nature Communications and Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids.
