Celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar Calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) aka Mooncake Festival is just around the bend. 


A few traditions associated with the holiday are enjoying a nice family meal, eating mooncakes and appreciating the moon and what it symbolises.


For many of us it also means three days off work — after surviving a six-day work week first. Here are a few events to help you get the most out of your Mid-Autumn Festival break!

The massive courtyard at Laowaijie has been the host to many fun-filled festivals over the years and this Mid-Autumn Festival is no exception. Drop by for two full days of eating, drinking and dancing as the whole space is transformed into an Afro-Latino festival. Dance to a host of DJs spinning African and Latino beats, savour traditional foods from an array of different cultures, and browse and hand-crafted goods.

Located in Taikang Terrace, Chateau Chili is a French bistro that surprisingly also serves Sichuanese bites (hence 'chili') late at night. This Mid-Autumn Festival, the restaurant will be serving brunch four days in a row! For 168 RMB, you get two dishes off the brunch menu while 198 RMB gets you three dishes. From flaky biscuits served with escargot to salmon eggs benedict, there will be plenty to choose from. Plus, the restaurant boasts a cosy terrace that not many know about — yet.
