The scared squirrel
squirrel was scared. he could not eat. he could not sleep. he could only worry.

the wise old owl
a few nights passed and only half of the moon was left. the animals feared the moon would soon disappear. after a week their fears came true,the moon disappeared. they all ran to wise old owl to tell him that the moon had disappeared."you're all very silly" said owl. "Gather around and i will teach you a lesson about the moon."

So when the moon mov around earth,you see only the part of the side that the sun lights up."

The other animals began to feel better after listening to owl talk.

The moon grew bigger each night Soon there was a full moon again.
The animals had a full moon party.

There once was a duck who had the bad luck to live with a lazy old farmer.

The duck put the hens in their house.
鸭子把鸡赶回鸡舍。

The duck answered, "Quack!"

The farmer got fat through staying in bed and the poor duck got fed up with working all day.
农夫从早到晚躺在床上，胖得不成样子。鸭子每日没夜辛苦干活，累得快要崩溃了。

The poor duck was sleepy and weepy and tired.

The hens and the cow and the sheep got very upset. They loved the duck.

So they held a meeting under the moon and they made a plan for the morning.

"Moo!" said the cow.

And that was the plan!

It was just before dawn and the farmyard was still.

Through the back door and into the house crept the cow and the sheep and the hens.

They stole down the hall. They creaked up the stairs.
大家轻手轻脚进了走廊，踩得楼梯吱吱响。
They squeezed under the bed of the farmer and wriggled about.
他们一起挤到农夫的床下，使劲往上顶啊顶床开始摇晃。
The bed started to rock and the farmer woke up, and he called, "How goes the work?" and...
床开始摇晃，农夫被惊醒，又嚷嚷起来：“活儿干得怎...”
They lifted his bed and he started to shout, and they banged and they bounced the old farmer about and about and about, right out of the bed...
大家拱起来，农夫叫嚷着。大家挤挤撞撞把床掀，农夫轱辘轱辘滚下来，重重地摔到了地板上。
He fled with the cow and the sheep and the hens mooing and baaing and clucking around him.
农夫拔腿就跑，牛、羊和鸡紧追不舍。
"Moo!"
“哞哞！”
"Baa!"
“咩咩！”
"Cluck!"
“咕咕！”
Down the lane..."Moo!"
一直追到小路上...“哞哞！”
through the fields..."Baa!"
穿过田野...“咩咩！”
over the hill..."Cluck!"
翻过小山...“咕咕！”
and he never came back.
农夫再也没有回来过...
The duck awoke and waddled wearily into the yard expecting to hear, "How goes the work?"
清晨，鸭子疲惫不堪地晃进院子里，等着听那句——“活儿干得怎么样啦？”
But nobody spoke!
咦，竟然没有人说话！
Then the cow and the sheep and the hens came back.
牛、羊和鸡回来了。
"Quack?" asked the duck.

"Moo!" said the cow.

"Baa!" said the sheep.
“咩咩！”羊说。
"Cluck!" said the hens.

Which told the duck the whole story.
大家把事情的经过告诉了鸭子。
Then mooing and baaing and clucking and quacking they all set to work on their farm.
从此以后，大家都在农场一起工作，农场里充满欢乐。

Story number one--Split pea soup

Martha was very fond of making pea soup.
Sometimes she made it all day long.
Pots and pots of split pea soup.

it was split pea soup.
As a matter of fact,George hated split pea soup
more than anyting else in the world ,
But it was so hard to tell Martha.

One day after George had eaten ten bowls

George carefully poured the rest of his soup
into his loafers under the table.
"Now she will think I have eaten it ."
But Martha was watching from the kitchen.

"Then you shall have them," said his friend.

"You are right," said George.
"I don't seem to be going anywhere at all."
"Maybe the basket is too heavy," said Martha.

Sometimes Martha even woke up
during the night to look at herself.
"This is fun."She giggled.

But George was getting tired of watching
Martha look at herself in the mirror.
One day George pasted a silly picture--
he had drawn of Martha onto the mirror.

"Oh dear!" she cried.

And she didn't.

to Martha's house, he tripped and fell.
And he broke off his right front tooth.
His favorite tooth too.

When he got to Martha's,
George cried his eyes out.
"Oh dear me!" he cried.
"I look so funny without my favorite tooth!"

The dentist replaced George's missing tooth

golden tooth, she was very happy.
"George!" she exclaimed.
"You look so handsome and distinguished
with your new tooth！”

And George was happy too.
"That's what friends are for,"he said,
"They always look on the bright side and
they always know how to cheer you up."

"What shall we plan for Darby's birthday?" asked Mia."it is just two days away, and we haven't planned anything.""we'd better think of something fast" said Mike. "Darby will be unhappy if we do nothing on his birthday. we always do somethings for Darby's birthday"

没人知道。
没人听说过恐龙宝宝。
没人看见过。
The age of the dinosaurs ended millions of years ago.
But we know a lot about them from what dinosaur hunters have found....
footprints
teeth
bones
They have found small baby bones in nests.
恐龙时代在数百万年前就结束了。
但是我们从恐龙搜寻者的发现中知道了很多。
脚印
牙齿
骨头
他们在巢中发现了幼小的婴儿骨骼（化石）。
They have even found dinosaur eggs.
Many dinosaurs were very big.
But their eggs were small.
The smallest was only as big as a quarter.
The biggest was about the size of a football!
他们甚至发现了恐龙蛋。
许多恐龙体型非常大。
但是他们的蛋却很小。
最小的只有25美分硬币大小。
最大的跟橄榄球差不多大小！
Were dinosaurs good mothers?
This kind of dinosaur was.
She made a nest of mud and laid her eggs in it.
Chickens sit on their eggs.
But this dinosaur did not.
She was too heavy.
The eggs would break!
She put leaves on the eggs to keep them warm.
恐龙会是好妈妈吗？
这种恐龙是。
她做了一个泥窝，把蛋放在里面。
小鸡孵蛋会坐在蛋上。
但是这只恐龙没有。
她太重了,
会把蛋压坏的！
她把叶子放在蛋上给他们保暖。
The mother watched the nest.
Lots of animals liked to eat dinosaur eggs!
She kept them away.
Inside the eggs, the babies grew.
They breathed through tiny holes in the eggshells.
恐龙妈妈得守巢。
因为许多动物喜欢吃恐龙蛋！
她得把他们赶走。
在蛋里面，胎儿慢慢长大。
他们通过蛋壳上细小的孔呼吸。
One day the eggs cracked!
Little baby dinosaurs came out.
They were hungry.
Maybe they squeaked.
The mother dinosaur brought them food.
The babies ate and ate all day long.
有一天蛋壳裂开！
恐龙宝宝们出生了。
他们很饿，
或许他们会吱吱叫。
恐龙妈妈带给他们食物。
恐龙宝宝就整天吃东西，吃啊吃！
Dinosaur babies had big heads and big eyes.
They could see and hear well.
Human babies are born without any teeth.
Not dinosaur babies!
They had lots of teeth.
恐龙宝宝长着大大的脑袋和大大的眼睛。
他们的视力和听力都很好。
人类的婴儿生来就没有牙齿。
不像恐龙宝宝！
他们一出生就有很多牙齿。
What did baby dinosaurs eat?
Some kinds ate leaves and berries and seeds.
Some kinds ate little animals and bugs.
恐龙宝宝吃什么？
有些恐龙吃树叶、浆果和种子。（食草恐龙）
有些恐龙吃小动物和小虫子。（食肉恐龙）
Was it safe for baby dinosaurs to hunt for food alone? No!
Enemies were all around.
And baby dinosaurs could not fight or run fast.
They could only hide.
恐龙宝宝们独自去猎食是否安全？不!
敌人到处都是。
恐龙宝宝不能战斗，不能跑快。
他们只能躲起来。
Some baby dinosaurs were lucky.
They were never alone.
They lived in herds.
有一些恐龙宝宝很幸运。
他们从不单独生活。
他们与成年恐龙群居在一起。
Even then enemies tried to grab the babies and eat them.
Maybe the big dinosaurs made a circle and kept the little ones inside.
即使有天敌试图来抓住这些恐龙宝宝并吃掉他们。
大恐龙可能会围成一个圈，把小恐龙圈在里面保护起来。
Babies were safe in the dinosaur herd.
The dinosaurs walked and ate and slept together.
恐龙宝宝在群体里很安全。
他们一起走、一起吃东西、一起睡觉。
Baby dinosaurs kept growing and changing.
Some kinds grew sharp horns.
Some kinds grew spikes on their tails.
Others grew bony frills.
恐龙宝宝不断长大，身体会发生一些变化。
有些恐龙会长出尖利的角。
有些恐龙的尾巴上会长出尖刺。
其他一些恐龙会长出骨壳皱。
They grew until they weren't babies anymore.
Some grew to be the biggest animals ever to walk the earth.
他们长大直到不再是恐龙宝宝，
有些恐龙会长成地球上出现过的最大动物。
And some had dinosaur babies of their own.
有些恐龙则会有他们自己的宝宝。

Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed
It was bedtime. Sofive little monkeys took a bath.
睡觉时间到了。所以，五只小猴子都洗了个澡。
Five little monkeys put on their pajamas.
五只小猴子都穿上了睡衣。
Five little monkeys brushed their teeth.
五只小猴子都刷了刷牙。
Five little monkeys said good night to their mama.
五只小猴子对妈妈说晚安。
Then...Five little monkeys jumped on the bed!
然后，五只小猴子都在床上疯狂的蹦蹦跳！
One fell off and bumped his head.
一只小猴子摔了下来，碰到了他的头。
The mama called the doctor. The doctor said,
妈妈赶紧给医生打电话。医生说：
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
“不准猴子在床上蹦蹦跳”
So four little monkeys...
所以，四只小猴子.......
...jumped on the bed.
....在床上跳起来。
One fell off and bumped his head.
一只小猴子摔下来，碰到了他的头。
The mama called the doctor. The doctor said，
妈妈赶紧给医生打电话。医生说：
"No more monkeys jumping on the bed!"
“不准猴子在床上蹦蹦跳！”
So three little monkeys jumped on the bed.
所以呢，三只小猴子在床上蹦蹦跳。
One fell off and bumped his head.

The Fantastic Flying Squirrel
了不起的飞鼠
It is night in the forest. Many animals are asleep but some are waking up.
森林的夜晚，很多动物们都睡着了，但是有一些睡醒了。
A flying squirrel wakes up in the tree den.
树洞里的一只飞鼠睡醒了。
The flying squirrel is hungry and she’s looking for food. What can she see?
飞鼠饿了，想去寻找食物吃。她看到了什么呢？
The flying squirrel jumps.
飞鼠跳起来了。
The flying squirrel glides.
飞鼠滑翔起来了。
She finds some acorns. Crunch, crunch.
她找到一些橡树果子，嘎吱嘎吱的吃着。
She’s still hungry and she wants more food.
她还是很饿，她需要更多的食物。
Shhhh! What can she hear?
嘘！她听到了什么？
A grasshopper is crunching on a leaf.
一只蚱蜢正在嘎吱嘎吱的吃树叶。
A hungry owl hears the grasshopper too.
一只饥饿的猫头鹰也听到了蚱蜢（嘎吱嘎吱吃树叶的）声音。
The flying squirrel jumps.
飞鼠跳起来了。
The flying squirrel glides.
飞鼠滑翔起来了。
She finds the grasshopper first! Crunch, crunch.
她首先发现了蚱蜢！嘎吱嘎吱地吃起（蚱蜢）来。
The flying squirrel goes back to her den and climbs inside.
飞鼠返回到她的树洞并且爬到（树洞）里面。
She isn’t hungry any more.
她（一点儿也）不饿了。
What does the flying squirrel do?
这只飞鼠做了什么？
She climbs. She looks. She jumps. She listens. She glides. She eats.
她爬。她看。她跳。她听。她滑翔。她吃。
